They will fit, but the tire is pretty narrow. The minimum I'd go on a 8" wide wheel is 225.

I see well 225/45 to me will look to big make the rims look small and 225/40 has a smaller sidewall than stock. I see vw's stretch tires to a ridiculous extent and tirerack states our stock tires should fit on an 8 inch wide rim, but im not sure. Any pics?

Some people like the stretched look. I have 225's on my 7.5" wheels and they're exactly the same width......no sidewall roll in.

I see well say I did go a 215/45 on a 18x8 wheel will I see any declines in handling? Or would it be smarter to go a 225/45 with this size wheel?

It's definitly smarter to go with the 225/45. There's no doubt that it would fit the wheel better.

But the sidewall is so big that it will make the rims look smaller ive seen pics where it has happened thats what im worried about

this guy seems to be running 215/45/18 on 18x8's but his tires look a little weird

I see well im not looking for a really small sidewall just because it will mean im sacrificing the ride comfort. So i guess if I were to buy 18x8's i could try the stock tires on and see how I like it.

the 40's i have are way less brutal than the 35's. you think it wouldnt make a difference but it does and they still look good, plus i think 45's will rub real easy if you are or ever plan on being lowered.

So your advice would be to go the route of a 225/40 or 235/40 rather than 215/45/18's for a 18x8 rim?

A 235/40/18 will have the same sidewall height as a 215/45/18.

stockers are 215/45/18's and there isnt much selection but I was going to buy the new goodyear eagle f1's in this size.

The 235/40/18 are the closest tires to stock but I will not be able to put them on my stock rims if I ever needed to. Thats kinda why I was looking into throwing stock size tires on an 18x8 rim. A lil stretch doesnt look half bad lol. I know this cuz my friends have VW's and they are all about being low and small tires that stretch ridiculously.

i have 235/40/18's on my stock rims and they have no rub at all...

and 235's on an 8 inch rim would be perfect...

The 235's fit good on the stock wheels even tho they are like almost an inch wider than stock tires?

Alright lol anyone have pics of 235/40's on stockers? Hows performance with them ie taking corners and what not? Also my ability to take hard corners with 215/45 on an 18x8 wheel are probably reduced right?

If I were to get a wheel with a 35 mm offset this would mean that the rim would poke out more right? Now is this a big difference from the stock 42mm offset and will it affect my car negatively due to the fact most cars performance is based on the wheels and tires?
