Thanks for the list soundjunky, the guys I was talking to in Leth were hyping up getting the hardest compound, I'm glad I didn't do that as I'd probably be spinning them all day long then. Is there a way to tell which is harder or softer compound from the description? Which ones do you figure you'll settle on.

thedude411, do those thing rub at all?

What I tend to do is look at the reviews - and take the negative ones with a grain of salt;
iirc a couple of those had really good reviews for tread life.

at the end of the day, it's really up to you though.
As much as I liked the overall handling and wet driving of the Conti Sport Contact 2's, they have (IMHO) miserable tread life ~ IMHO a tire should easily last a couple years of summer dut - this is why those tires are not in that list (even the Conti Sport Contact 3's are supposed to have better tread life; after one summer of driving I'm down to maybe 50% - and I used different tires for the track too)

What you could do, is look on Tire Rack for a bit, and then maybe print some of them off, take them to local retailers, and tell them you're thinking of buying those (only bring in one or two types) to see if either they can get that same tire, or what similar tires they have, and what kind of pricing they can give you.
As you can probably guess, there is a pretty good margin on tires.

Oh!!!

That just reminded me!!! ~ I believe it's CalgaryBalt, who goes to a shop which is a Tire Rack vendor - so they can get in & sell you tires at TR pricing!
(it would only mean you'ld have to come up here though!)

Is CalgaryBalt a member here? Searchd but could not find him. I'd gladly take the trip, it's only an hour and a half each way or so.

Thanks a lot for the help, back to reading reviews for me.

yup;
Cobalt SS Network - View Profile: CalgaryBalt

He hasn't been online much of late because he's self-employed, and has been busy of late.

actually if you're driving the limit, it's a smidge over two hours;
if you take #3<->#2, it's a good two and a half hours each way...

I normally take the Claresholm turn off because it cuts a good fifteen minutes of the drive, and unlike the Granum turn off (that highway was recently widened), there are no semi's on it...

Do you frequent Lethbridge much? I'm yet to see an LNF here besides one on Murrays lot.

I'll be contacting him for sure, I'm really liking the reviews on the KDW's (I can see why the other CSS members like them haha) and at $675/4 that's not bad at all.

Thanks again.

yes I do.

With the exception of my mother, and one of my cousins who recently moved to Red Deer (for work), her whole family lives there, I am there several times a year...

I probably drove my Cobalt down there more than a half dozen times this past year - I even drove down and met up with Acey for the friday night cruise on the street wheelers weekend.

I went with an all-season tire with the longest tread life I can find that wasn't terribly expensive. Arrived at Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum. I don't need amazing traction and a very soft tire in a 2.4, so this tire will be good for me.

Also, I'll for sure get 225 then.

Oh it's orange? Probably only a few of those in the city. So many of them are black.

You coming back for street wheelers again this year?

Suburst Metallic, the best color . I've only ever seen one other Orange SS/SC here, owned by a guys dad I went to school with.

Also, I think I'm going to go for the KDW's. In March or so (I can't even remember when the snow starts to melt anymore) I'll get into contact with CalgaryBalt. KDW's on TC rims here I come.

yeah I'll probably be down again;
Sometimes I need very little reason to bomb down...

but this year my grandparents are not going to Palm Springs, so I'd say odds are good that I'll be down some time soon...

re: Street Wheelers Weekend;
I normally only decide what I'll drive a couple days beforehand though...
