Wheel adapter questions

Okay, I have a few questions... I want to change my bolt pattern and I'm kinda confused on how it works. If i was to get let say a 25mm or 1inch adapter what kinda specs do i need to go by on the offset of my rim? So let say it has a 40mm offset on the rim do I add 25 to it or subtract it. Basically Im looking for a rim thats around 18x7.5 or 18x8 and want a nice agressive offset without throwing it to far out on the fender.

if you had a 40mm offset wheels stock and put 25mm spacers on. the real offset would then be 15.

so to get back to stock you'd need 65mmoffset wheels with the 25mm spacers to get to 40mm offset.

you gotta do the math on the fact that you are wider than stock but thats how the offset/spacer relationship works.

If your gonna get adapters to switch the bolt pattern look at wheels that are 5x114.3 or 5x100.

Ex, wheels that I would get If I were getting adapters would be something similar to this, maybe a different design but similar specs.

17 ROTA G FORCE BLACK RIMS WHEELS 17x8 +48 5x100 WRX TC: eBay Motors (item 260667985265 end time Nov-21-10 09:36:10 PST)

17 ROTA BOOST SILVER RIMS WHEELS 17x8 +48 5x114.3 CIVIC: eBay Motors (item 260668939540 end time Nov-23-10 16:39:16 PST)

There are better wheels too depending on how deep your pockets are but I like Rota's because there baller on a budget.
