Wheel Table. Restoring wheels?

Ive been wanting to make a table from wheels for a while now. Simple idea just stack two wheels together and run all-thread through the mounting holes to tighten the lugs and hold everything together. Find a nice glass top to put over it and done. Thats the easy part.

Now, I think I can get a hold of some old 99 Dodge Ram 16" polished wheels from my buddies cummins. They are in decent condition but do have some rust and the usual wear and tear. I have hardly any experience at all in restoring something like this but would like to bring these wheels back to looking A-1 so I can have a sweet lookin table in my room.

So how do i get these wheels back to looking great? Any steps/tips/product recommendations would be great. Thanks in advance to anyone that can offer some help.

Good idea, but I wouldn't use two wheels bolted together, just use one and fabricate some legs to bolt to it. Use real lugnuts, of course. Actually, the feet could be a set of rods or something too. Lots of parts usuable for furnature, lol.

Friend of mine has a Wheel/Tire that he "borrowed" from the pits at the Coca-Cola 600 a few years ago, it looks pretty awesome. All he did was lay the glass on top of it, works pretty well.
