Wheel Widening
Okay guys don't hate me but I'm playing with the idea of getting my OEM SS/TC front wheels widened from 7.5 inches to 9 inches to run 255/35/18s on the front. I am not a fan of the stretched tire look so I'm doing this primarily for function. I'm thinking of using Weldcraft so far based purely on their reputation and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts, pros or cons and just basically will it fit and look good. I'd probably use a small spacer on the front just to give it a little more room. HELP!! lol
It would basically be this, added on to the back so that it wouldn't be poking out much more than stock just give me more width for wider tires.

I'm only hoping to go 9" so hopefully it would still be able fit and I'd be able to have 255 on the stock rims
Well I've seen some 255's on the 7.5 but they look awkward and bulged. I want to make sure I do it right and make sure they fit well.
first off do not put a 255 on the stock wheel. or any 7.5" for that matter.
secondly you WILL need a spacer. widening the stock wheels can only be done via the main drum behind the spokes because they connect on the outside, there is no lip. so every bit of that 1.5" will be added on the strut side. so you'll need a spacer so offset that.

you'll need a +23 offset on the 9" wheels if you'd like to keep the same backspacing as stock. but that will bring the wheel out 1.1" towards the fender.
you could go with a +30 offset and still have room between the strut and it'll only poke out .9" from stock.
+35 is where it starts to get closer to the strut (vs a 234/40/18 on the stock 7.5") but it's .1" closer and .7" of outward.

Not worth it. Throws off geometry way to much. Also stretched alloy rim seems sketchy.
Alright I think I've figured it out. 255/35/18 on the front wheels widened just an inch to an 8.5 inch front. Using a 12mm spacer putting the front at a +30 offset from the stock 42.
