Wheels for the RSX

now that summer and its nice weather is starting to approach, i'm starting to think about getting an extra set of rims with some performance tires... the stock tires have 35k miles on them and it's time for a change.

i'm on a budget, and i love the JDM integra type-r rims, but unfortunately they usually run about 1000 bucks for a set. the ITR rims look like these:

i found a set of rims that look similar from this site: http://www.custom-wheels-car-rims.co...ShowLarge=True they come in the white color with a blue stripe, or a black color with a red stripe. here's a couple crappy photochops with the rims on my car:

and

has anyone heard of this brand of rims (Xon Wheels)? i'm hesistant about the price (you get what you pay for), but a college kid doesn't have too much money.

what do you all think? black, or white? i would probably get rid of the stripe on the rim pretty quickly.

which set? the white ones, or the black ones?

u should add the type-r wing
eventually. i'm up in the air though, i love the look of the mugen lip kit:

but i don't know if the type-r wing would look good. i'm thinking of keeping the stock decklid lip spoiler.

personally, i'm leaning towards the white rims... i'm thinking of wrapping them in some toyo proxies or kumho ecsta spts, because the sites where you can buy those rims wrap the wheels in some pretty crappy tires (Falken ZE-912, Toyo FZ4, Nexen N3000)

i would never put white wheels on 99% of cars, you cant go wrong with a dark rim and polished lip on a silver one though!

probably keeping the 17" size, maybe 8" wide. i'm at the end of the stock tires' life (35k miles), so it's about time i start shopping for at least new tires.

now i'm changing my mind it happens frequently.

i found some enkei rsv rims from edgeracing.com... i can get the rims AND toyo proxies 4 tires for about 950 (shipped), which is right about my budget. they come in three colors!

as soon as the warranty's up... a drop will be in order, dunno if it'll be springs/shocks or a full coilover kit.

the white stands out too much and doesnt really follow the color scheme of the car, black/darker wheels definitely. The A-Spec lip kit is the best looking kit on any rsx. are you on clubrsx?

i'm on CRSX a little bit, but i hardly post at all... i usually just read everything i can. i like CSS.net a lot better as far as a community goes (smaller)... and i still love the SS/SC (was pretty much choosing between an RSX-S and an SS/SC)

Not a really a fan of most of the rims you posted up. Rims are obviously cosmetic. Keep your money until you afford what you really want. It's always more expensive to do it twice.

considering i've only put up two different kinds, i'm always open to suggestion. tires are a given... i'm pretty much deciding on Kumho Ecsta SPTs or Toyo Proxy 4.

and as far as what i 'really want'... you know how much money it takes to make an RSX fast... so what i really want is a lot more money than i have

i got money for christmas from the parents for rims/tires, so that's what i'm going to be spending it on, and i'm still looking at other options.

i wouldn't settle for something that i can just afford. deep down, it's not what you wanted and you will always want what you wanted but couldn't afford. i say, save your money and get it when you have enough.
