Wheels for SS/TC
Wheels for SS/TC
Well, it has been a few weeks since TireRack.com told me that they didn't have any winter tire packages listed for the SS/TC because they had not had one in their shop yet for measurements/fitment.
I e-mailed them again today and they said that NOT A SINGLE WHEEL they stock fits over the Brembos.
This does not look good for the options on aftermarket wheels or for downsizing wheels/tires for winter. Even if you do find a wheel that fits, it will likely be an 18" wheel...and 18" winter tires are expensive...
I followed up and asked if they were just estimating using measurements or if they had done a fitment and they said they actually had one in the shop and tried fitting the wheels with no luck...

as much as nobody will want to do so, can't u use the stock rims thru winter with winter tires mounted to them?? As well don't fret, SOMEONE will make a rim specifically to fit the cobalt ss/tc if absolutely nobody else has one that fits beyond stock.
I'm hoping someone makes some cheap wheels for the SS/TC. I don't think anyone can afford to pay someone to mount and balance wheels/tires twice a year to put the winter tires on the OEM rims.
Wal-Mart charges 5 to mount, and 5 to balanace. 40 bucks, twice a year? That will probably be on par with the cost of a new set of wheels. Still, it's more of a hassle for someone that would prefer to just change out the rims in their garage at home.
tire sensors $5 off + $5 on w/ those on the rims
I buying one of these in 09
If I had a T/C, I would use the stock rims for winter with a good set of winter tires (which should last at least 3 winters), and buy a new set of rims (19's) for the summer (again the tires should last about three years). I have done this before with a different car and it worked great. I am parking by SS S/C for the winter, so I just have the 19's on.
Good point, forgot about the TPMS. I'm on their website now, and with TMPS it's 8.50 to mount per tire, so that goes to $54 twice a year. Or pay 12.50 per tire for a lifetime balancing, and then pay $34 twice a year for the mounting, and make your money back in a year. Either way it's an economical alternative to buying a whole new set of wheels.

NTB has thingy for multi yrs at a time alignment specials, like $150 for 2 yrs worth of. every 5000 miles if you want.

Its pointless to put on KDW 2's they are junk, unless you dont like traction............ But if you have some just lying around then i understand. Invest in some Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 or some Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R's and you'd be riding on rails....
That's funny because the KDW II's are rated very very highly by many reviewers on multiple websites.
I know this:
The KDW II's are better than the stock Conti's.
I have very very negative comments about Brickstones as I have drove them in a 350Z and an STi and they came on my motorcycle stock.
Never used Yokohamas
