I've got nitto 555's 225/45/18 on the front and have no problems at all. They were slightly used when i got them though so I dont know if that'd have anything with it.

No you need 225/40r18 not 225/45r18's that will be the difference if your truly rubbing. I think it is quite possible your rubbing by the way.

Im runing 235/40/18 KDW2s on 18x7.5 rims and I dont rub.

The stock rim has the wrong back spacing and is to narrow for some 225 tires depending on the brand. Not all 225s are the same contact patch. there the same section width but the contact patch can vary by up to .75"s

You need to find the specs for your tire and compare them to the KDW2s as others are runing that tire with no rubing.

Im not lowered right now . I will be here in a couple months , but 17's and 245/45r17 tire will be used at that time . I dont think Id have a problem with the 225/45's lowered either , Ive been all over my wheel wells lately measuring for a custom rim . Like Badmunky said though , some 225's are wider than others .

i think a 45 series tire will be too tall especially if you want to run a 245.....also keep in mind that the correct size wheel width for running a 245 is 8.5 inches unless u want a stretched or bulging looking wheel/tire package either of which will look retarded imo

245's would look great

bought ASA 17x8's for the winter..... I am going to get a set of sticky rubber for those same 17's next spring to do driving events. and keep the 18's for commuting.
do you know of someone who has actually run a 245/45-17.... are they on 8" or 8.5" rims and are they on a different offset ?

heck 235's would look good

thanks...

as a general rule the rim width/tire width are

7"=215
7.5"=225
8"=235
8.5"=245

wider tire on a smaller rim causes buldging, narower tire on wider rim = stretch so for maximum traction and proper tire wear its best to stick to the industry standard
