I have a question for you guys up that live up north. How well do the ss/sc get around in winter with snow tires?

my SS/SC is near unstoppable in winter mode. I'm running 16" HHR alloys and 205/60/16 Michelin X-ice tires.

On the other hand, if i try driving in the snow with my stock wheels and tires, my car is unstoppable....in a not so good way.

The only time I run into issues is if the snow is deep enough that it reaches the lip kit on the front bumper, after that the front end starts to lift and you lose traction.

If the snow is below that, I have no problems at all.

I use Michelin X-Ice tires 215/55/16

some good snows and the only limit is ground clearance..... I recommend the Dunlop Winter Sport M3,from Tire Rack on some 17's (here is a link to those tires).
://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Dunlop&tireModel=Winter+Sport+M 3&partnum=15HR7WSM3XL&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompa re1=yes&place=0

browse around, they have reviews and tests for most of the tires they sell

you'll be fine w/ a good set of snows

and D4u2s0t, I remember your write up on snows.... good info, recommend thread

thanks!

and those are the tires i bought, but on 16's. dunlop m3's. were fairly cheap too, tires and steelies for about 550 shipped.

here is my writeup form my thread last winter:

CLIFF NOTES: smart driving plus good winter tires = a car that handles awesome in the snow.

and why do people in trucks and suv's drive like complete ******** in the snow? this guy in front of me was riding an eclipse's ass, literally about a foot or so behind her. i would have stopped the car and got out if i was that eclipse.
