Maybe a small issue on mounting zzp's intercooler
I don't know how long I have had this whole in my intercooler but I'm sure it has been there sense the last turbo, kinda thing that's why I blew up the last turbo lol. But for the reason I am posting is so you guys who buy this intercooler and are lowered aware of something that could happen.
I believe I bottomed out the intercooler and it came up and hit the square metal flanges under the crash bar. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j9...d/791f4494.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j9...d/e4e1a9cb.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j9...d/4319f5c9.jpg Not bashing on this product because I love it, just giving a little heads up. I plan on grinding off an inch on each side of the two metal pieces that the intercooler hit. I will take some pics today when I do this so everyone can see what I'm talking about. |
I fail to see how something could puncture the endtank when it's that much lower than the core.
I sit rather low with their OG intercooler (note: not revised for clearance). Weld your intercooler up and angle inclines. Easy! |
There is a piece you can't see in these pics. When I get back home this weekend I'll take a pic of what I'm talking about. But the intercooler is about half an inch below the piece I am talking about, but not directly underneath it. But if you were to hit something and it pushed the intercooler up and into the car a bit it can puncture the intercooler because of the corners.

But ZZP will still say it's not too low. Their increased clearance one is the right size. The old one is too low.
