Unlock Factory Radio
I just got a 2006 MP3 stock radio off ebay because mine wasn't mp3. This thing needs to be unlocked and my dealership wants $85. Is there any way I can do it myself?

lol call around you'll find one that will help you out....someone on here might be able to help you as well. i had to call and give my vin number but others have done what you need to do. they can give you unlock over the phone. there's no need for them to have to charge you that amount. call out of state if you have to. there's a thread on hear to show you how to input it as well i believe.
also you should have bought my spare one !!!!

Friends who work at dealerships for the WIN! Paid $35 and free shipping for the MP3 black radio itself on ebay then went to the dealership to see if my buddy could do it and he offered to do it free but I slipped him some cash. SO this whole install and program pretty much only costed $35 more or less. What a great day.

yeah all it is is having a Tech2 and about 15 minutes of your time. dont know why dealerships need to charge near $100 for virtually no labor and 15 minutes of doing hardly anything but waiting

Would it be the same if I were to put an 09 stereo in my 06? Just direct swap, then go get it unlocked at the dealer? All the steering wheel buttons would work and everything?
Thanks.
Thanks.

you can't put an 09 in an 06. there's tons of **** you would have to do so just make it somewhat work. i believe only one guy did it. he said it was a huge pain in the ass.
