Went To Chevy Dealer. Was Told Some Intresting Stuff
Hey guys I went to my local Chevy Dealer last night and here is what they told me. First thing he said is that the coupes are due in very soon. They then went on to say that the SS is not due out for atleast another month and he said they will not be making a lot of them and that your best way to get one it to put a deposit down and order one. He said out of every 20 cobalts maybe 2 of them will be the SS. One good thing he said is that just like the corvette and cameros the HP on the SS is under rated. They said that it actually has somewhere around 215-220 HP. Also LSD is standard on all the SS's
One more thing they said is there will be NO REBATES just like the srt-4. He said they are special cars and there will never be rebates on them like they did the cavalier.
Just figured I would stop in and share this info with you guys.
Oh here is some pictures of the brochures. They said they just got them in yesterday.

that is interesting. I'm not sure that I really trust what all dealerships say. I remember before the G6 came out at Pontiac dealerships went around telling a lot of wrong information. I believe that the SS wont offer rebates anytime soon. But must the GM cars eventually offer something.
For some reason every dealership has something different to say. Why don't you try emailing a Gm sales rep to see if the info the guy told you is true. Not the HP rating the the whole sales and production. If one of the 2 guys on the site (can't remember their names) that work at the gm lordstown plant could maybe shed some insight on the production of the SS that be cool too.

Thats the first time i used that smilie. yah for me. sorry i'm bored at school right now don't mind me

THERE ARE NO Cobalt SS in USA yet.
I'm a saleperson for a cheverolet dealership. I sat down with my manager that orders all are vechicles. And we search the whole USA for one and there is none. He even check if there are any oders for cobalt SS. And there are only 5 Cobalt SS order in USA. But even the 5 that doesnt even mean that they well get theres first. And the person that took pics of the cobalt SS in the snow. That pereson worked for GM and had manufacture plates. I'll keep you posted as when they START building cobalt SS. So everyone that goes to a dealership and place an order for a cobalt SS. They cant even order the vechile yet. They are just holding your spot to have one order when they start accepting orders. Which is still undetermined.
PS. DID anyone see the that the cobalt SS had 160mph on the dash and the others or 120mph?

From what I'm reading here in the forums there has to be more than 5 SS/sc ordered. I know I've had mine ordered since Oct 23, and I have a deposit down on it and Chevy accepted the order. If my order went through then the other people who have ordered before me had to have had their order go throught, and that totals more than 5 orders. Anyway, thanks for the information, keep us informed

i don't know how ur dealer knows the LSD is standard, i emailed chevy and they told me they knew nothing about a LSD or a 'performance package'... they also told me that the heated seats will be standard on the SS's, but not on the SS/SC... that makes NO sense at all... also, the new brochure shows the pic of the red S/C with the name tag on the upper part of the door, which is a new model, yet it shows the dashboard with the black face and 160 speedo of the pre-production, early units...

the SS is going to be a 06 model. the SS/sc is the 05 model. so if they are going to offer heated seats in the 06 SS then its possible they will offer it in the 05 SS/sc. As for the guages, my understanding is the SS/sc has no speed limiter thus they equip it with the 160mph speedo and different guage colors than the other models.
Ok im home from work. About heated seats, the brochure says that the LS COUPE/LS SEDAN Heated Seats Are Optional and requires the seven speaker premium sound system. The LT SEDAN it is standard.
What the difference between the SS and the SS/SC ?

but y did he specifically tell me they weren't available on the supercharged? and the gauges on the SS/SC r supposed to be platinum colored not black, and the speedo is a 140 not a 160... i saw a pic of the dash somewhere... probbaly on here somewhere... here's a quote of what he emailed me:
"
Thank you for contacting Chevrolet again and for your interest in the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt! The early information that we have regarding the availability of heated seats is that they are available on the Super Sport, not listed for the Supercharged. Information is subject to change prior to production. According to our information, nothing regarding limited slip differential is mentioned. We apologize for any inconvenience. Your dealership will get the final information first."

These are the pics for the SS/sc of speedo and dash. The titanium is the ring around the speed markers. and yes it goes to 160 mph, everything I'm hearing the car should do 140 stock, so you need a 160 mph speedo.

so is SS s/c only going to be in production for one year? or is there going to be a 06 SS SC? cause im going ot be pissed if i cant get an SS s/c and i have to get an SS non sc. im saving up for my down payment now and waiting to sell my current car till they are in production. am i SOL if i dont get an order in soon??
Dealers were saying the same about the ion redlines, and we all know what happened there!
The SS/SC is a special car for special people and the average mom or commuter is not going to go in and order one or buy one off the floor, so the sales will be slow ininially but then we should see incentives....

the SS/sc will continue in production from everything Chevy is saying. It just that they are going to offer a non /sc SS next year.
From what i have heard production will continue I know a lot more about Saturn and Pontiac than I do chevy but I know the Red Line ION is going to be in production next year.So I dont see why the cobalt SS woudnt.
