disable anti-thief ?

I've done an engine swap in a car that has been sitting for a long time and had to also replace the battery. Everything is hooked-up and ready to turn on but im not getting it to turn over (won't engage starter). The security light is on and i've tried a bunch of different ideas to turn it off and nothing has yet worked.

things i've tried:
1. rechecked fuses and wires (rechecked 5-6 times)
2. tried a key combo that fr33k mentioned in another thread: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...11&postcount=6
3. tired messing with the fab, and another set of keys
4. tested the starter connections
5. left battery unconnected for several hours
6. other things im sure im forgetting...

everything else on the car seems okay, all lights and devices work, but the ecu is still locked, i cant even connect via hptuners.

------- more grey hairs from GM
gm service #1: "i've never heard of this happening before, theres no key combo for this that we know of"

------- another dealership
gm service #2: "sounds like a security system you had installed talk to the manufactor"
me: "no, this is a factory security light on the dash im talking about"
gm service #2: "well sir, its got to be a aftermarket gm doesnt do that"
me: "I'm POSSITIVE its NOT AFTERMARKET.."

I really wish i could find a dealership within 200miles that didnt completely ******* suck.

what about your ignition? Also could be just a reflash that you need. I know sometimes that engine swap make the computer go crazy.

ignition checked out. fuses and switch, when i turn the key i get power on the correct lead to the ecu. The issue is internal to the ecu.

I've given up and made an appointment in the morning to take it to a dealer who didn't sound completely retarded. my guess is that from sitting so long without power that my ecu maybe ruined.

you need to have your ECU flashed to the correct engine even if the engine is the same model.
