50 shot on a supercharged 2.2
50 shot on a supercharged 2.2
Hey guys,
I am going to be putting a procharger on my 2.2 in the near future (like 6 months or so) and that will be going along with forged internals and a host of other mods. I will be trying to make 300Whp. For a little extra fun I want either a 50 shot or a 75 shot. that and I want to surprise my dad. he has an '07 ZO6, will I beat him? No, but I will surprise him by not being killed as bad......I think.
I will only be running like 8-10 psi, with 10.1:1 compression. I will be using the 2.4 intake manifold from CED. can that manifold handle the boost and a 50 or 75 shot??? I have read several times on here that the stock set-up can handle a 75 shot no problem. thanks in advance
also, what would be a good system or kit to use for my goal. I know I want at least a 10lb bottle. and a dry shot rather than a wet shot.

actually I almost did, I put $500 down on a GSXR-1000, but I am only 19 and can't afford the insurance. I am in the Coast Guard and we are required to do things a little different insurance wise and I just couldnt afford it. yea, that was the plan, I saw a GSXR1000 (2007) with just a slip-on muffler run a 9.3, I about **** my pants, then I really **** my pants when my insurance quote came back, looked over at my cobalt and shrugged my shoulders in a "alright I guess..." kind of way

You can get liability insurance on a bike and owe on it...it IS NOT against the law...but heaven forbid you bin it.
Also if you have never rode before a 1000 is a poor poor choice
The thing that will hold you up with your 2.2 is lack of tuning, and that is where it will get very expensive...i didn't mean to sound like a suzuki salesman up there
But overall I bet it will cost you a TON less and four wheels moves the body...two wheels moves the soul...I cannot wait for riding season
My Gix doesn't need the valves checked/adjusted over I think?
The 1098 doesn't need a damn thing...it is sweet the way it comes.
so does anyone have any suggestions for my OP?
and later I had a lot of people telling me the 1000 would be way too much. but if I get one now I'll get a yamaha warrior. very comfortable and still sporty. but insurance is much more reasonable.

what is your reason for going with a dry nitrous shot? all that is going to do is complicate your tuning
as far as manifolds go, both the 2.2 and 2.4 mani are plastic so i really don't think there is any advantage to going to a 2.4 one
if you're going to be building the motor there is really no reason why you can't push the limits a bit more...either run more boost and stick with a small shot or keep the same projected boost levels and run a bigger shot (like 75-100 shot)

besides, i don't know of anyone that has experienced a nitrous backfire unless they had a malfunctioning window switch or simply sprayed down too low. never heard of it happening based on design...it really shouldn't be a worry for the power levels 2.2's are looking for.
ok thanks guys. I wasnt looking to get the 2.4 mani for strength, but for performance. I am building up the motor to make over 200whp NA and using the supercharger for the difference to get to 300Whp.
a dry shot seemed like an easier set-up to me. Is there a good wet set-up for my car?

yea, I planned on using the head from patriot performance and blower-grind cams from Comp Cams. 10.1:1 pistons from wiseco, this isnt an NA build though. I want to make 300Whp by building up the motor and getting HP where I can. Not 100% on what supercharger I will use though.
