My Stage 2 Not Rich?
My Stage 2 Not Rich?
So, i finally got a wideband o2 sensor and standalone kit for future hptuner use. I just installed it all to see how my A/F is on the stage 2 and I was a little shocked. I'm using the self calibrating xd-16 gauge btw with the LC-1 kit.
At idle i see about 15-15.5 a/f most of the time. And under light load i see around 15 A/F ratio. I really wanted to see what my WOT runs would produce so i gunned it and kept an eye on the gauge.
With my stage 2 tune, i see low to mid range rpm at around 13-14 A/F, then when it picks up i see straight 11.6-12.2 in second gear all the way to 7000rpm, same with 3rd as well. I was suprised because i hear everyone say they're running rich as hell, but those number stayed pretty consistent throughout the runs. I did a heavy load 5th gear pull just to see, and it was straight stuck on 11.3-11.6 all the way from 80mph to about 110mph.
I'm guessing the 3" RAW intake and the ported blower might and my extensive cooling mods as well as cool 40 degree ambient temperatures might be the cause, but i just felt like i'd share some of my finding. I'll get pictures up of my 3 gauge pod pillar and the sweet ass xd-16. Also, with those short runs i never saw above 110-115 IAT2, but i did find out i had a coolant leak once i came back. (car pulls like a mule with just a 2.9", wish i had more balts to test against around here)

well, i'm definitely going to read into the calibration of the xd-16. i think it still might be slightly off due to my issues of during installation, took me forever to find out all i needed was the terminal plug put in. I ended up calibrating it in the header i believe (supposed to do open air), but the car hadn't been run for 2 days.
I think the calibration is off. I have seen some stage 2 dynos where it dips below 10. That seems odd that yours would be that much different.
Tho the 42#s that come with the stage 2 are notorious for going crazy above 6000~6200 rpm and going lean.

alright, i just went out, recalibrated the o2 sensor in open air like it said, put it back in and took it for a run. The results, barely any change at idle and low loads and about .5 A/F difference at max for WOT. Sorry for the premature post, but it still seems kinda high.
Still though, i saw 10.8 at the lowest around 6000rpm (guesstimating since i was eying the gauge and driving mainly) mainly huddling around 11.2-11.6 in 3rd and 4th i didn't see it drop below 11. i also did a 5th gear pull just to see if i knock and yes, there was about 3.5* of knock at 100mph so i let off, but still didn't see AFR below low to mid 11's before letting off.
didn't want to do more than that for driving cause shes still on an injector cleaner tank of gas after taking her out of hibernation.

Really dumb question here ? But is 11-1 afr rich or lean ? And is the higher the number or the lower number mean rich or lean ? What kinda afr would or should you be seeing ? Thanks for the clarity. Im just trying to get this afr stuff sorted out in my head ?
It varies based on cars, but the higher the number, the leaner you are. 14:1 air to fuel means you are running pretty lean where as 8:1 would mean pretty rich. lean and rich in terms of fuel that is. 11-12 to 1 is good for our cars.
