Just PM me or any of the other experts if you have questions. Be sure to get the proper scanner configs before making logs.

Like Steve said a working Config file is the most importent thing to get working first. Do this before making any changes.

Have fun 8)

Downloaded the Cobalt SS Imperial.cfg it from HPTuners.

Logged some files last night on the way home from work. I'm hoping the book I ordered "Engine Management Advanced Tuning by Greg-Banish" comes in the mail today. Then take it from there.

Lol, I didn't read any books. All the info you need is in the HPTuners explanations.

lol some of us aren't as creative and innovative as you are, I've read though some of those also. I'm basically reading what I can that isn't too expensive.

499 plus shipping. I didn't get the pro version. I heard the same thing about the 2.2. http://www.hptuners.com/

I'm hoping it'll help out with some terms I'm not familiar with yet, for example PID? Its all over HPT but I haven't found where it tells you what the initals P I D stand for.

Almost everyone I have talked to so far that has the standard version wishes they'd got the pro. I don't think PID is mentioned in that particular text. You can find that info on the HPT forums. I don't remember what it stands for though. Not really important as long as you get the difference between a PID and a sensor. Actually, you only need to know to use sensors when you can instead of PIDs. My best advice to you is to learn the scanner top to bottom. Learn how to create custom PIDs and custom histos that give you what you need. The scanner is way more robust than you first realize. Get away from copy/paste percent as much as possible and learn to actually study the data. It takes longer per run, but it's faster overall, because your tuning is MUCH more precise.

Just my $0.02

All you really need is the regular $499 version. And it does not work on the 05+2.2L, but it does work on the cavaliers etc.

PID means ~ Personalized Info Display.

The thing about the HPTuners explanations is that it usually tells you how that table relates to the other tables in the tune. A book won't tell you specifically about the 2.0L. Also, for the most part VE tuning is worthless on the 2.0L its mainly a MAF tuned car, so don't waste a bunch of time trying to VE tune and then realize you don't really get anywhere.

The only thing you need the PRO for really is to be able to plug in a Wideband in. But think about how many people actually have a wideband in their car.....like 1/10 so the regular version works fine.
