i need serious info please

alright, well i will hopefully be picking up my ss/tc in about a month as long as there is no delays. i just need to know if this car is going to be able to be moded. i understand that there are no plans for stage 2.....and that everyone says the transmission is "maxxed" out, but is this car gonna be upgradable? but people say that you cant here the turbo stock and such......if i get an intake will i hear the turbo more? i just want the awesome hissing noise and maybe a little chaaaaaaaa from the bov. i just wonder about these things, thanks

I'm in it for the same things you are. I want to hear that turbo spool up and hear a nice atmospheric blow off valve!

But yes an intake will help you hear the turbo also some intercooler piping doesn't hurt ya. There is also some intercooler pipes with a blow off valve flange.

You can buy a stiffer spring for the bov.

This tranny is less maxed out than the LSJ tranny due to the tougher clutch. Aparently, if you know how to drive, you can put down over 400whp and 350 wtq on the stock LSJ clutch. So I'm assuming that the LNF balt will be able to take more than that.

It is upgradeable. You can do intake and exhaust without any problems or CELs, but you may not actually gain any power until you get HPT, and tune for it (which is possible right now).

Some Sol/Sky owners have installed a larger intercooler and have noticed gains with that as well. Although, about 50% have gotten CEL's.

Anything more than that, and you will be higher than 20psi, and the car goes into limp mode.

ITS NOT A BLOW OFF VALVE!!!!

How many times do we have to tell everyone that it isn't a BOV, its a bypass valve. It is quieter simply due to the fact that it doesn't release the excess pressure into the atmosphere, it recycles it back into the intake.

Sound wise, you will hear the turbo and the bypass valve much more once you do intake and exhaust.

intake will help a little, but i have a feeling we'll be waiting a little while before vendors put together an intake for the ss/tc or any parts at that matter. gmpp will prob be the first to make a cat-back, intake for the new model. by the way there is no BOV on the ss/tc.

My dealer said 30 days.

There is a couple guys that do have bov's on the cold side piping of their intercooler...
But I did misspeak about the bypass valve's stiffer spring.

Just some food for thought, GM quotes the maximum output on their transmissions based on reliability ratings that they can back up with a warranty. These ratings are usually 20-30% less than what the transmission can handle comfortably. So in reality, even though GM says the maximum horsepower that the F35 can handle is 260hp it is more likely that the transmission can actually handle closer to 300hp or more before needing supporting modifications to deal with the extra power coming from the engine. So I find it very unlikely that the transmission is "maxed out" as everyone keeps saying.

they have a beta but I believe it doesn't support the direct fuel injection yet, but there is some tuning for it, it's the same computer in the Sol GXP.

I do believe the cobalt ss/tc ships next week, the plant worker at lordstown says they are still making pilots, they made 4 today, all of which are sellable units, i know mine is being made next week, and it takes two weeks to ship since i live in oregon. Ohhh and not upgradeable bypass valve, this is computer controlled by a electronic-vacuum control device, not sure you want to mess with this since this is what keeps you constantly spooled up.

Its not a beta anymore.

You can tune most everything. Direct injection is just a bitch to tune, since there are like 10K parameters (slight exageration). I've only looked at it a couple of times so I'm not an expert on it yet.

My buddy out here in SoCal has a sol gxp with intake, exhaust, intercooler, and with his tune, he dyno'd 282whp at 22 psi. He's been running it like that for about 3 months so far, so we'll see how it holds up at that power level.

That's why you can tune it... So you can tune it to realize that no air will be recirculating, and still be fine, so you don't go into limp mode, or run rich or lean (I forgot which one).

Honestly if your looking for alot of info wait a year and buy one after they are out. No way can people tell you for sure answers when it comes to the SS/TC and modding. Its not even out yet in most places. Adding a intake will change the sound. Good luck.

The GM accessory catalog at the dealership listed a catback exhaust for the lnf. If i remember correctly it is the sameone as the lsj.

I was just reading up on the sol GXP and GM has made a stage 2 upgrade, but has not released it to the public yet. Does anyone think that will follow up on the new ss/tc after its been out for a while?

Honestly i think they will release these for the cobalt ss/tc later, after gm sees how the sales go for this new car, if there aren't enough sales then not worth the money to spend on the upgrades is the way i see it, the sol/sky will get it first. The car hasn't been released yet, and it will be probably a year until really good upgrades come out.

BTW I work at the plant that builds Solstice GXP, Sky Redline, Daewoo G2X, and Opel GT. And you can hear the turbo spool up(Not as much as you will with an Intake, but you can sure hear it), and you can hear a slight Blow off as well.... and that is at low speeds too.
