Rattle like plastic on Metal

I am getting a rattle from the engine compartment on my SS/SC. Sound like plastic on metal. Noticable especially when the car starts warming up. Abates some after driving but still present. Any ideas?

Also I have the extended warranty this should be covered under that right? As well as my driver side door seal is starting to come apart on me. I'm going to take it in to have those fixed.

it's official, you have a cobalt! they have all kinds of rattles, shakes, and funny sounds, but the second you take it to the dealer these sounds mysteriously stop.

check your pcm and coolant overflow for looseness

I took a ziptie around my pcm to mount it firmly to its tray and attached foam tape to contact points around the overflow

is it over bumps? during turns?

yeah if you put some camper foam tape between the pcm and mount it does a nice job as well

In my case it is while parked and the motor is idling. Like some loose piece of plastic rattling against the motor for some reason. In locating the sounds it sounds as if it is coming from the passenger side of the engine compartment but I can not see anything in there.

Yea I am going to get mine looked at. See if it is warranty work to get it fixed. I suspect it is.

sure it's not the timing chain issue?

I've had the same problem. I was rattling bad on the passenger side of the motor. It stopped all of a sudden though so i'm not sure what it was.

Extended warrenties don't usually cover "trim" issues.

Took it into the dealership today. The rattle is the tensioner for the supercharger belt. And the trim will be replaced both under warranty.

Yet another update. Part came in and I took my car in the other day. When I went in to pick it up I was told that while the tensioner was replaced the rattle was still present. Upon further investigation it appears a broken bolt within the header associated with the timing chain was causing the rattle and they will need to replace the entire header.

Imagine that.

Broken bolt in head was actually case not broken belt tensioner. Instead of drilling out bolt or whatever they have ordered new head to replace entire unit. I don't know how much sense it makes or doesn't.
