Need help with noise

My 2.0 Cobalt is making a wierd noise. If i accelerate to somewhere around 3500 rpms or higher and let off the gas quickly, it makes kind of a shudder noise. The sound goes away after the rpms drop below a certain amount or if I put it in neutral. Anybody have any ideas as to what it could be?

hmmm not to sure but the thing you just said about you disengage the clutch and the noise goes away makes me think a tranny or drive shaft issue, IMO

I thought it was a tranny problem too and I took it in to GM and they fixed some stuff on the transmission but I still have the problem. I'm taking it back in next week though for them to fix a left turn noise.

Mods are: Stage 2, short shifter, CAI, and Centerforce Clutch/Flywheel

How bout your mounts. Does your shifter move excessively up and down or left to right?

The tranny mounts? And the shifter feels pretty normal...same as it was before the noise

Tranny or engine. Im not sure bout front wheel drive but in my camaro if your shifter went up and down it was the tranny mount, side to side was an engine mount. It would make a ton of noise move around and the engine would hit the fan and make noise etc, just a thought.

Yah and I ran through a ton of tranny mounts. Ended up wrapping a chain around the crossmember and the tranny to give that mount a little moral support.

haha. I just ordered some tranny mount inserts and a solid engine mount from Turbo Tech Racing...maybe that would take care of it if thats the problem
