i haven't yet changed the oil, but it does look like it will be a pain in the ass... on a side note, does the DIC oil life tell you when you should change your oil, or how much oil is left?

CHANGING THE FILTER IS A PAIN ! I bought Mobil 1 Extended Performance guranteed to 15,000 miles. That was so I dont have to change the damn oil again for a long time. I will change it every 7500 as opposed to 3000. Reaching in for that filter pissed me off. If you have small hands no big deal. If not you will grab it and then it will fall in the cup again then you will grab and fall in the cup HOOOORAY SCIENCE !!!

the DIC oil life thingy tells you when to change your oil, but i wouldn't go by that tho, just change it every 3000 miles. when i changed mine today, my oil life thing only said 48%, but the odometer said 3000.

If you are running Mobil 1 and changing your oil at 3000 miles you are throwing money away.

As for filter location try having a supercharger in the way. Oh well its easier than my girlfriends 2.2 Sunfire.

Just buy the socket, and an extention. Its pretty easy then. I think the biggest pain in the ass it the plastic covers.

The whole 3k mile oil change thing is a myth that started years ago when dino oil was impure as anything... With todays oil (dino and syn), you should not need to change the oil for upwards of 15k miles. If you are unsure about your engine, get an oil analysis done. If it comes back fine, then you are good. Otherwise change it. The reason oil goes bad is simple. The way modern oil works is that it "traps" contaminents and stores them so they don't build up and harm the engine. Oil needs to be changed when there is close to 100% concentration of these contaminents. Modern oil in normal engines DOES NOT BREAK DOWN OR DEGRADE. The ONLY reason to change a modern oil is due to contaminents...

Agreed. As I always say, LOOK a the oil before you change it if you don't trust the compuer. 3000 miles doesn't mean anything. Use your head people. Oil doesn't need changing until it's dirty. It doesn't magically get dirty at 3000 miles.
