Stock Car Alarm

My friend has a 2006 cobalt Ls 4 door with the stock car alarm on it but it does not have the key fob. So she has to open it with the key but...when she does unlock the door the car alarm will go off and wont go off until you put the key in the ignition. Now I know this aint right cuz I have to use a key to get in my door and my alarm does not go off. Is there somethin wrong here??

I think it does that when you lock it with the fob...possibly double-click the lock button. Did she lock it with the fob, lose it, and ever since, the alarm goes off?

Oh...well, they might have done that. Did it go off the first time she unlocked it, after purchase?

If they undid the battery, would that reset it and keep it from going off until she could get a new one? Or at least stop it, if she has no plans to get a new one?

That may work too, once she's already set the alarm off...

She wants a way though to not have the alarm go off in the first place, when she unlocks the door with the key...
