motor&tranny swap going from 2.0 to 2.2 ? how can i do it
motor&tranny swap going from 2.0 to 2.2 ? how can i do it
i have to do a motor and tranny swap not just a motor swap am i correct cause the 2.0 tranny wont meet up with the 2.2 block?
which means all the transmission bell housings HAVE To be the same.
your going to have to figure out the clutch issue though
the flywheel is different sizes between the 2.2 and 2.0, meaning different installed "height"
this is false..think about it.. ALL ecotec blocks are the same casting, just different sleeves between the 2.4 and the 2.2/2.0
which means all the transmission bell housings HAVE To be the same.

what i would be more worried about is getting all the electronics to communicate with each other, which i'm pretty sure is not possible. in other words, unless i'm wrong, even if you get the engine and tranny in the car, it's still not going to work properly.
LSJs are less expensive than L61's anyway, by a few hundred dollars. why not just get another LSJ? or a LNF if you have the extra 2 grand
if you want displacement, it would be cheaper to get anothe rLSJ and just stroke it then it would to buy a L61, new tranny, and then deal with all the electrical component changes to allow them to communicate

I don't know how you would go about the tuning aspect. You're best bet would be a XFI Standalone system.
If you want to use a 2.2 block I would just fix and sell the SS/SC and by a cheap 2.2. Buy GMs Performance parts (block, crank, etc) and put in a 4T65 Hydra-matic transmission.

have you ever been under the car? around the tranny there is dozens of spots that look like bolts should be there but aren't. which means there could be many different designs used/bolted up. not sure if there the same or different, but they absolutely don't have to be the same.

have you ever learn how to read.. the bell housing, you know the big round part where the clutch/flywheel sits inside and bolts to the engine HAS to be the same,
the BLOCKS are all the same, which mean the bell housing has to be..its as simple as that.. there is no other bolt holes on the bell housing.
On the transmission/differential yes there may be other bolt holes, but what does that matter, the bell housing bolts up to the engine, because the engines casts are all the same..
the electronics are easier.. use all the LSJ electronics,
get an 07+ 2.2 crank with a removable 58x crank trigger wheel, swap lsj trigger wheel onto 2.2 crank.. hell even throw the lsj head on the 2.2 block and be golden
Come on guys 2 people have done the le5 bottom end into an ION redline..its not that complicated
if you want i can go take a picture of a 2003 l61 block, a f23 trans.. and you can compare the 2 to your motor and trans..i have these parts laying around, i have done the research, because I WAS going to do it, but decided against it
here ya go.
unless you rewire the whole car, or use the LSJ head on the 2.2. block (and swap reluctor rings) plus you need a F23 trans. since the flywheel is and 8 bolt on the LSJ and a 6 bolt on the other motor's.... it's just more money then getting a stock motor. Or buy 2.2 bottom end, Eagle forged rotating assembly, swap reluctor rings, use LSJ head... and either get a custom drilled aftermarket flywheel, or use the weaker trans, and it'll be a nice PITA build, once which I would most likely not want to be a part of

or use the f35 trans and clutch actuator, pull out the shim between the engine and trans, and use a 2.2 clutch and flywheel..
input shafts are the same, 2.2 flywheel is thinner by about the same amount as the shim, remove the shim..and use the "stronger" f35.. even though stronger is arguable.. although this has never been tested, I am very very confident that it will work perfectly fine, measure everything and you'll see what I mean..
there is more than 1 jbody with 400+ whp daily driven with a STOCK f23. actually you hear more about the f35 breaking than the f23.

why would you go with a 2.2? jc a 2.4 would probably be better for you .. there's tunning more displacement to start and same trans as the 2.2 ..
not to mention you could talk to mvp about doing a frankenmotor likr he had in his redline
