DashHawk Problems
DashHawk Problems
I bought a DashHawk a couple weeks ago.
I have a 2.2L engine with the e16a computer.
Why do none of the GM specific readings not work.
They all read N/A. Is this normal or am I missing something?
Other than that, i love it, it's really nice knowing eveything else. I just wish I had things like commanded AFR and such.

you have to chaneg them while it is plugged into the car; this will show what PIDs your car has to display.
what I did was go through screen by screen and just add all the PIDs that was available for my year, make, and model. I have an 05 and have foudn out that the later years actually have more options and controls. Its wierd but thats how it is.
You can't do it on the computer because the computer doesn't know what PIDs your car has availble.

do you choose that when the dashhawk is connected to the computer or to OBDII port? If it is saying N/A that means your make and model car doesn't support that PID and if you try to look for in the PID list when its connected to the OBDII port you won't find it.
i went to setup in the car, clicked on custom display 1, then edited one of the entries and selected many different things, it says there should be a + sign next to ones i don't have, but that's not the case.
If you have an 05 it should be the same.
Do you have the PIDs like knock retard, and commanded AFR?
I feel like I'm missing something small.

I have commmand AFR but i don't think knock retard sensor. I have an '05 but liek i said there unless you had chose that PID in the dashhawk screen while connected to the OBDII port then its not one thats supported on you car. Like my friends '07 cobalt has more PIDs available than on my '05.
What ever show up in the entries under the custom display you chose is whats available to your car. like if you go under GM specific>actuator you will notice that only a few PID are available (which are the ones for you car) but if you look at the same spot on the PC you will see all the PIDs that are available among all GM vehicle.
The one thats displaying N/A can you find it in the PID lists when connected to the OBDII port?

God i must suck at life
I updated the DashHawk last night, which did fix a speedometer twitch I had.
Go through the steps on the DashHawk to see if I'm doing it right while in the car.
sorry, lil_kano I guess no one else has one or cares to help.

Well for one i did have that speedometer which is fixed by setting the refresh rate to slow.
Actually why don't I just send you a copy of my file setup and you can upload it on your dashhawk.
PM your email.

I finally fixed my problems, just needed the updates for the dashHawk and to select the inputs while it was in the car.
Next problem
Car reads commanded AFR to be 14.7 non=stop. I know it surely can't be right because that is too lean. I get a little blackness on the exhaust tip so it must be running richer than 14.7 is the guage off or has my tune messed it up?
Or is my thought of blackness on the exhaust not the right assumption and I'm running possibly lean?
Need a wideband soon or have it tested somewhere.

thats because its the command AFR stocih (thats where you want to be at). Thats what the ECMis trying to stay close to. once you get a tune the ECM will stay even closer to that.
you probably have black stuff on your exhaust because your running bolt ons with no tune. my car runs smooth with full bolt ons and tune. the exhaust fumes are clean and actually gives a little water drippings.
i would get it tested (wideband). also check your O2 sensors. what are they reading? also what is your LTFT and STFT readings?

I do have a tune actually.
STFT = varies between 100mV and 700mV
LTFT = sticks around 700mV
I may have switched those two numbers, but that's how the two act
Oh and by blackness, i mean very little, just enough that after a couple days I can swipe my finger and get some black off of it.
