Cant get the CEL OFF! P0017

Ok i replaced that crank shaft sensor twice already and i cant see to get the CEL to go off! its really starting to **** me off!!

It starts up after 2 turns sometimes but then again sometimes it starts up on the first turn of the key
and they told me that it would take 100 miles or so for the CEL to go off but its still on

sounds like you need a case relearn.
probably nothing wrong with the sensors at all.

it is not a case relearn..its the crankshaft - camshaft correlation code. u need to retime ur timing chain on the side of ur engine...it took me a day to do this, trust me..i spent 2 weeks with this problem until i finally tore apart the engine and timed it the right way

ur not breaking 400whp on the m62 but yea...u can try setting the sensor the right way by putting number 4 cylinder on compression stroke top dead sensor then line the cam sensor and housing up the right way...i did this 3 times and it didnt work but thats because my timing chain was off..urs might be on and thats all it needs..

Sorry to revive this but I am sitting at the dealer right now I brought the car in to have the thermostat replaced. They went to move the car and it didn't fore. Shows a p0017 code now. Head has never been removed didn't have any issues like this before. They are checking to see if warranty would cover it. Just curios to see what could have caused this.
