Will a 2007 Cobalt OEM Stereo Head Unit (Black one) fit into a 2006 Cobalt LS??

Anyone know if the 2007 HU will fit into the place of the 2006 Cobalt LS's HU Slot?? Is the fitment exactly the same and plugs in the back the same as the 2006 LS HU?

I want to get a 2007 Black Cobalt HU and put it into the 2006 Cobalt LS. And the 2007 one has the Stereo Mini Port on the bottom right corner of it correct? Anyone one know if the black one or silver is a 6 Disc CD Changer??? Ive seen one advertised somewhere, it was a silver one and it said that its a 6 Disc, i dont know if thats true or not, or if only the silver one has it and not the black. Anyone know??? Thanks

Will it fit? Yes. Will it work? Only after a lot of frustrating work, not even worth it.

What is so frustrating bout the install?? and i have no choice cuz its my gf's car and she only wants stock head unit with the stereo mini port. she doesnt want a aftermarket HU. Soo, i have all the right tools for taking out the old one and putting in the new one. What is so hard about it though?? too mcuh stuff to unscrew out first or is it that im going to have fitment issues and that ill have to modify **** to make it fit??? cuz to me this is something simple that the dealer does easily and then charge you an arm and leg for it, im pretty sure it cant be that bad of an install.

This subject has come up before. Try searching for older threads on it. Many people wondered the same thing when 2007 models first came out.

Read this, and see how much time it took this guy.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/electronics-audio-video-49/2007-hu-does-work-05-06-vid-47419/

So much effort, and the thing doesnt even work properly.

The interfaces on the 05/06s and the 07 are completely different, and you need a GM tech who knows a LOT about these radios to even begin fixing it.

Either leave it stock, or drop some cash on a nice looking H/U she likes. This is gonna cost you a lot of money to go with an 07 radio.
