Clicking after shutting off.

I just picked my 08 SS/TC today and I just noticed that after I shut the car off completely that there is a clicking noise and its been going on for about 5 minutes now. Is this normal? What could it be?

Its a 08 thing. Mine does it too. It'll do that even if you turn the key all the way without starting it then turning it off. Not the exhaust but the electronic stuff under the hood.

yeah mine does it too. always has ever since i got it. i think its normal. at first i thought it was the throttle plate springing back to default position from closed position...

but it might be the electronics... or maybe a little bit of both?

On the LNF's, it is the oil pump pumping a little bit of oil through the turbo, a la a turbo timer.

The ticking sound you are talking about is more of a tink tink tink sound.

The sound the turbo guys are talking about is a CLICK CLICK CLICK sound.

First time I shut the car off and went under the hood to play with something it scared the fack outta me

Its is just the metal of the car contracting because it is cooling off from being highly heated. Metal expands when heated. Its normal, it gets reall loud for me when I stress it out. I have a 2.2 but its nothing to worry about, its just simple physics

The sound the tc people are talking about, is not what you are talking about...

dude, this is a completely different noise. read carefully, they've already said it's not the exhaust.

click click click, yup it's something with the turbo, buddy had an aftermarket turbo on his 4.3 blazer and made the same noise. Frist time I heard it I thought it was timer for a bomb.

2nd buddy above was only trying to help, try NOT jumping down people's necks for once?! Atleast give it a try, who knows, you might like it.

The oil pump is driven off the engine directly, when you shut the engine off, the oil pump is done as well.

A turbo timer keeps the engine running for a couple minutes after you take the key out to prevent coking of the oil in the turbo.

Its either the throttle closing shut or the something in the high pressure fuel pump or pressure regulator, every lnf engine does this. It clicks/clocks and ticks like no other engine... get used to it.
