How to: Get your car tuned from another state

For those of you who have onstar, read this thread towards the bottom. They are tuning these cars without even being near the car!

Just something cool I thought some people should try. No more trying to figure out who lives where for tuning.

I mean if you think about it GM can flash your ECM through your onstar, soooo why cant you flash your own ECM through your own onstar?

The ideal thing would be for guys like PsychoStevo (sp?) to set this up so he doesn't have to travel.

That right there is the EXACT reason I posted this. Think about it. No more trying to figure out who lives where for tuning. Im pretty sure all the SC and TCs have onstar.

I took all the internals out of this dell I have and put it all behind the radio near your feet in that space. Hooked HP from the "computer" straight to the OBD2, and with the D3 = sex.

... looks like the cat is out of the bag now.
Some people have been experimenting with custom built CarPC's and cell phone networks for a while now. I had the Carpc in my old car streaming data to and from my home computer in my old car... so it's entirely possible to do a full HPT setup though the same system.

Im pretty sure this would be absolutely free if you think about it. All you'd need is a wireless router really, and your car's IP address. Im sure you can just call onstar and they'll give you everything you need.

You wouldnt need onstar just a wireless laptop hooked to the OBDII port with a software like EFI or hptuners and let the tuner remote desktop into it.

You are correct, however, lets say you dont have a laptop. Then, you get your cars IP address from onstar and upload the tune directly.
