MAF sensor question
MAF sensor question
My MAF sensor is completely shot. Setting off cels and making my car stutter and jerk. Got wet and now its fried. I am getting a new one soon. Now I have a Injen CIA...When i get the new one is it plug and play ready out of the box..or do I need to go to a dealership and get it programmed?
anyone?? I seriously need to know this...getting it in a couple days. A friend said that i would have to go to a dealership to get something done so my ECU will read the MAF sensor correctly...is this true or can I just put it right in
well i'm not sure if you can just unplug the old and insert the new, or if you have to cut the old wires and reattach but the ECU should read a new MAF fine as long as it's the same one.
Good question. My MAF went bad on the AEM intake because of the same thing, water. I replaced the sensor(was covered under warranty) but don't know if they can just plug it in or not. I would think they could and not have to reprogram anything but I could be wrong. I have since gone to K&N, cleaned out my TB and got a hydroshield for the K&N and I have not had that problem since *knock on wood*
Side Note: just a little word of advice from me, if you do have an AEM(I don't know if you do or not) but if so, either put the stock one back on until you can afford a new intake or just get a new intake because I had problems from the AEM even after changing the MAF sensor.
