Bought some winter rims for the SS/TC
For those of you looking for winter rims (e.g. not too expensive), I was able to buy some in the Toronto area. I will pick them up tomorrow and confirm fitment, but the guy had an SS/TC in for fitment yesterday, and they confirmed the fitment, with a 3MM spacer.
BSA 264 Wheels

Gislaved NordFrost 5

I paid a package price of $1449 + tax (Canadian dollars). Got them from Steelcase Tires n' Mags in Markham, ON
3MM spacers are required. That is small enough that the wheel can still be hub-centered (with the centering ring).
Thanks, Mal.

The spacers are to counter the depth of the rim, not the diamter, so you may need them with either 17 or 18 inchers. At 17 inches though you have access to a lot more tires. The main problem with spacers is the size of them. If they are too large, then it affects your fulcrum point, which puts stress on bearing, and is generally bad. However, 3 mm is TINY, and barely worth mentioning. The other reason you don't want spacers is because if they are deep you cannot hub-center your rim, resulting in a rougher ride potentially. In this case, they are so shallow that you still can.

Everyone says "ahhh just buy a beater" the last "beater" I had was an ass pain. There's a reason you pay so little.. Beaters break down. Sure you protect you're 4 cyl chevy, but there is still a cost associated to keeping a beater on the road. Drive it if you want, I have seen many season round cars look shiny for years and years. Just take care of it, get it sprayed, keep it clean. If you have a garage even better. It all comes down to the individual and the actual KM being put on the car.
If I had a pretty high end car I would consider the beater route but the slobalt is a driver.

Beaters are great, dont get me wrong, I've just had a shitty experience with mine. 2000 for winter tires / rim is asinine thats why I am driving my 05 Mazda 3 through the **** season. I guess in a way I am driving a beater too :P
