View Full Version : BC Window Tinting
r_fiorda49 03-02-2006, 08:24 PM Just wondering if anyone in BC (specifically the Lower Mainland) knows of any good tint shops. I heard from some ppl that Speedy Auto Glass does it but i dunno...they seem kind of cheap to me so i'd be worried about the quality...any help would be appreciated :cssNET: :ca:
r_fiorda49 03-03-2006, 01:59 PM Anybody??? :bye:
vancity_cobalt 03-04-2006, 04:29 AM i went to N-motion on boundary. they offer lifetime warranty on their work. the only thing i'm not sure about is whether or not the tint will look good w/ the dot matrix on my cobalt. tint is still drying and the cold weather sure isnt helping the process

Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 01:34 AM How much do you guys pay for a 20% tint for the side rear windows and the rear glass window?
And, guys, what's your opinion on doing it to a black car?
g5mike 04-02-2006, 03:49 AM i just had my pursuit gt done by diamond carcare, they have done my other cars as well with only 3m tint lifetime warrenty, they have 25years expience. their ph6045903353
Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 03:52 AM If I stay in the lower mainland for post secondary in September, I may think of getting a new car (perhaps a Mazda 3 or maybe even a Cobalt SS)
Paul Sandhu 04-05-2006, 05:49 PM Whats the limit on tinting in BC?
r_fiorda49 04-05-2006, 05:53 PM Whats the limit on tinting in BC?
I was wondering this aswell...i called a couple of places including Speedy Autoglass and they said the lowest they'll go is 35% :thumbsdow
r_fiorda49 04-05-2006, 05:55 PM i just had my pursuit gt done by diamond carcare, they have done my other cars as well with only 3m tint lifetime warrenty, they have 25years expience. their ph6045903353
Out of curiosity...do the pursuits have the "dot matrix" on the rear window??? If so, did you run into any problems with tinting it??? I'm thinking about taking my SS in for a tint but all i've heard is horror stories about the dots :(
g5mike 04-06-2006, 01:24 AM yeah they have the dot matrix, but they did a great job on mine i can only tell on one small spot, but then again my detailer been doing this for 25 years as a matter of fact i was ther for a wax once and this guy came in with a bmw to have his tint done long story short this guy has a detail shop and he would not let his own guys do the job he brought to this place instead.
PenguinPIE 04-06-2006, 01:33 AM i have 20% on back windows and never had a problem with the cops........
n-motion auto in burnaby said is fine :)
Incredible_NATE 04-06-2006, 01:58 AM Just don't tint the front windows and you are fine.

How much did your tinting cost? And Diamond Car Care is on 128th & 86th right?
pegasus_691 05-11-2006, 02:23 PM Where's the guy on here that works for N-motion? My boyfriend and I are still looking at getting our windows tinted and I wanted to see if you could get me a deal at all. We aren't in any rush to get it done (he's going out of town for 2 weeks) but i'd like to see if we can work something out.
g5mike 05-11-2006, 03:43 PM Pegasus, just pm brian Mckinley
g5mike 05-12-2006, 02:23 AM Diamond car care is 120&86 I think it was 180.00 all windows, minus the winshield
Paul Sandhu 05-12-2006, 05:24 AM Diamond car care is 120&86 I think it was 180.00 all windows, minus the winshield
How much did the windshield cost and what % did you get on your windows?
g5mike 05-12-2006, 05:27 AM I did not get the winshield done:thumbsdow I have 35% on drivers/passangers windowsfazed in 205 on the small windows and rear:twothumbs
g5mike 05-12-2006, 05:28 AM meant to say20%on the small windows and rear

widowsfazed? Not sure what you mean. I saw your pics in another thread. That looks like a good combo, not sure if I want if I would get my windsheild tinted either.
Do G5's have dot matrix? If so were they able to handle it properly? And Diamond Car Care is on the Delta side right?
g5mike 05-12-2006, 05:35 AM by having your tint fazed in you go from a light to darker tint from the side windows working to the rear window. the tint does not work with the dot matrix to well but you hardly notice then after having your tint on for a few days just take a credit card wrap it in paper towel ond go over the dot matrix and it should look better. Diamond car care is on the surrey side by the bottle return depot.
wolfie 05-14-2006, 06:05 PM I got my Redline done at N-Motion. They did a great job. I got 35% on the back 3 windows. Mention "Revscene" and you will get a discount. Mine cost $119.00 before tax.
nazzy019 05-14-2006, 09:52 PM you can tint the rear as dark as you want but the side door windows and windshield cannot have any tint, but lighter tints cops will usually ignore
Paul Sandhu 05-15-2006, 04:14 AM I'm confused now. Where should I go? N-Motion or Diamond Car Care?
Incredible_NATE 05-16-2006, 03:32 AM I have heard that cheap tints can lead to the window fade away in about 2 years, particularily the cheap deals.
wolfie 05-16-2006, 10:48 AM I have heard that cheap tints can lead to the window fade away in about 2 years, particularily the cheap deals.
N-Motion gives you a lifetime warranty on their product.
Paul Sandhu 05-18-2006, 03:07 AM Yeah I found this, its from the Motor Vehicle Act.
MVA Regs 7.05(8) No person shall drive or operate on a highway a motor vehicle which has affixed to or placed on the windshield or a window any material that reduces the light transmitted through the windshield or window unless the material is affixed to or placed on
(a) the windshield but not more than 75 mm below the top of the windshield
(b) a side window that is behind the driver, or
(c) the rear window if the motor vehicle is equipped with outside rear view mirrors on the left and right side of the motor vehicle.
So this means we cant have any tint at all on the side windows? I think the window fazed might be a good idea since they are long windows. Or maybe smoked tint might be better.
Anyone have any problems from the police on this?
It means that any part of the window ahead of the drivers shoulder can't be tinted. At least the local RCMP explained it to me that way. If the police stop you and you're a dick to them they'll probably hit you as hard as they can. If you cooperate with them and respect them, they most likely wont care or give you a hard time about it
