kind of expensive just to clear a CEL. Won't an autoparts store clear it for you?

well the thing is i live in md and every 2 years we have to have emissions toensure our cars are running correctly. With my high flow cat its throwin a code so i wanna clear that off...yes autozone could clear it off but it will just come back on im sure

drive down here and I'll do it or spend $499 on the basic and do it yourself.

2 choices find a tuner in your region -- there is a directory on this site

With the hp tuners program it will disable the specific code so your light doesn't
come on that will be much cheaper than buying hp tuners
and at the same time you can get a tune ... worth the while

if your high flow cat doesnt pass standards anyways you need to get
the stock part back on get tested -- you can get a scanner for 50-70$ and
that will reset your codes

Only problem is that that code in particular will reoccur
so unless he deletes it at the garage and then crosses his fingers
hoping it doesnt happen during testing ...

it just depends on how quickly it reappears

here is more info as previously discussed

spark plug anti-foulers, get a pack of two for $4, drill one out. put them together, then put the o2 sensor on it. Or you could spend $30 on an ARK CEL eliminator which does the same thing.

There is a problem with clearing the codes right before you go to a garage... When you clear the codes the computer runs a diagnostic for about 100 miles... When the mechanic hooks up the emissions test to the car, that message (car not finished running diagnostic tests) will show up and they will not test the car....well not in MA anyways. I miss the good old times.... Throw in an extra 10 and a six pack and the garage would pass you lol

This is what I did (but I only used one) and haven't thrown a CEL from my catless pipe yet.
