Though this has already been said to some extent, I want to re-iterate how amazing the stability control program on these things is. I just drove home from the girlfriend's on a winding, dangerous downhill road with a 10-foot drop into a huge creek on the left hand side, sharp blind corners, etc... All this while it was blinding snow and a solid 6 inches on the pavement.

The snow tires kept the car firmly planted. Typically I turn all driver aids off in the snow (especially TCS), but left the ESC on... And wow, what a difference. I typically allow for some degree of slide in completely extreme conditions, but the ESC kept the car RIGHT on my intended line.

I also tested some harsh braking to see if the back end would step out (wide, straight hill), and once again the ESC kept the car in check.

By no means am I advocating that the ESC is a suitable alternative for proper driving technique, but I sure won't complain about an extra safety feature. GM



tl;dr The ESC program on these things is phenomenal even in extreme snow.

*EDIT/SIDE NOTE*: When I say dangerous road, picture an amazing summer road with tight winding corners. Let's just say I much prefer the drive to the GF's when I have the Contis and 18s on with dry roads

yea, had a light snow here in illinois this morning and needless to say, summer tires suck. as long as you know how to drive you'll be ok but more snow i wouldn't dare try.

 

FWD FTW in the snow, barely need to think compared to driving a V8 w/ 275s in the rear
