Over $800 if you use new parts. thats not including hubs if your changing from 4 lug or including wheels.

If youve got no ABS youll also need to modify or otherwise change the rear proportioning.

 

my 09 LT has the 5 lug already i just want better breaks, how much would that cost me?

did you upgrade the front yet? that's where majority of the stopping power comes from, and where you're better off spending your money. New rotors and pads will make a world of difference.

When i put my new rotors and hawk hps pads on the car, i almost stalled it while bedding the pads. amazing stopping power over stock.

I am definitely with D4 on this one, you need to think about upgrading your pads, and hoses first. $175 will get you some new sporty front pads and braided stainless hoses all the way around. Get you front rotors cut, instll the new pads, install the new hoses, adjust your rear brakes, and you will be absolutley amazed at the difference in the performance of your brakes.

If thats not enough the next step would be to upgrade to the SS/SC front brakes, youll be able to get reman ACDelco calipers/brakcets, and new aftermarket rotors for about $300-400. this is a straight bolt on. And will also make a big difference.

If you have to go nuts, get the Brembo front brake for the SS/TC, it'll probably run you $800-900.

Yeah you can install the SS rear disc brakes(figured $600 for SC and $900 for TC), youll also need a new rear axle....... An aftermarket kit will probably run $1000-1300 and you wont need an axle.


You dont NEED rear discs though...the drums on the Cobalt are really quite good, keep them clean and adjusted(maintain them everytime you change your oil) and theyll do just fine. Carbotech makes at least two different rear brake shoe compound for us. I run the 1521's and they are a nice upgrade(about $140, and you need to machine the drums before install)
