Question 2008 2.4 mani VIN

So I ordered a 2008 2.4 manifold from gmpartsdirect and now they've emailed me saying they need my vin to ensure i get the right part. I tried to explain what I need and why I cant give them my vin but I'm guessing they dont understand. So, I know theres a couple of guys with the correct 08 manifold, just wondering if anyone has any idea what to do/use?

Also, I can't find the pcv and tb seals that I need for the swap on gmpd. any idea where else I can get them? (i,e, autozone/napa or the dealership)

Just do what I do, go onto a autotrader website and find a cobalt your year and just use their vin.

I wanted to make sure that I had the insert that maven highlighted in his how-to (throttle body support). Has anyone installed the manifold on a 08 without the insert, that he says is necessary???

also, the 08 2.4 manifold is $15 cheaper than the 07 2.4 manifold. Any idea why???

The 08 2.4 manifold is like the 2.2 manifold -- a 2-piece glued together plastic manifold.

The 06-07 2.4 intake manifold is a 1-piece plastic manifold -- it has larger runners and plenum.

2006/7 on left, 2008 on right:

You DO NOT want an '08 LE5 manifold. you want the 1st design, or 06-07 manifold.

Now I gotta call and cancel my order... grrr...

But what about the TB gasket insert? Do I really need it? and if so, how do I make sure I get it?

If you are talking about the plastic insert that goes in the 06/07 manifold, yes you need it. It helps to hold the gasket in place -- without it the vacuum can pull the gasket in. It comes with the manifold...if it is not in the manifold when you get it look in the box for it.

I don't understand why you guys think you are saving a few bucks by not buying the CED kit? Look at the aggravation you are going through...with the CED 2.4 intake kit you get EVERYTHING you need and instructions too! That alone has to be worth something...

Okay......for hopefully the last time, regardless of where you get the intake from you need to be sure you get that plastic "bridge". It isnt available seperately, you cant buy it, the manifold isnt supposed to be sold without it, but since I got one straight from a GM warehouse without it I figured it was worth mentioning to make sure yours has it, otherwise you need to return the manifold. This would be true EVEN WITH the CED kit. The CED kit is a waste of money if youve got an 07-08, the only "hassle" its saving you is having to order two seals........Ohmigosh. There is at least 2 howtos on here, and much more information is available from our membership than a piece of paper from CED.

By from wherever you wish.
