Auto-X saved my life.

So my buddy insisted that i post my experience on here. So here it is.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I was returning from having my endlinks and swaybar bushings being swapped in St George last tuesday when it happened. The freeway is under construction and the speed limit fluctuates between 65 and 45. There are some bends that are pretty sharp in the 45mph areas. Well at the first bend a double dumptruck semi began to jack knife about 50 yards or so in front of me. Two or three cars sideswiped each other behind him and one of them began to spin aswell. There was an ambulance right behind them and he locked up all four and began to slide into my lane, the middle !

I was probably between 55 and 60 and i was being squeezed in by the ambulance, i swerved right and the semi was feet away by this time. The only option i had was to dive between the cones ! I had to slalom 2 more before i could cut back onto the freeway. All i saw in my rearview was carnage !

I really believe I was able to manuver around this giganto wreck due to the confidence solo2 has given me. It was instinctual, i just knew i could make it. I will be honest, a few drops of pee came out, it was scary as ****. THANK YOU AUTOCROSS ! I owe you one !

Here is a rendering of what i think it might have looked like.

To cops, that's not a defense.

45mph in 60mph traffic is suicide

I think it would be cool to film everything in my car so the one day something amazing happens I have it on tape. This crash would defiantly be cool to see on video.

Im sure there is video out there of it, i believe ambulances have constant video running.

Actually, the experience has prompted me to make an in-car camera holder. I have made one for my Instinct, but since it only records 2 minutes at a time it is best suited for my auto-x runs. I tested it out and it works great !

i looked into one of these about a year ago when i was trying to save for an exige. a mirror in an exige is as useful as backing up is relaxing.

^ yeah but it only records the rear of the car. Nothing exciting ever happens behind you unless there is a freak wreck.

it records the forward looking cam unless you plug a cam in the AUX. it does default to the AUX input when used, though.
