Smile I like the cobalt SS

Hey guys whats up, im new this cobalt forum on account of me not having a cobalt. But i did test drive and SS today, and i have to say i really liked it. Its got a good amount power and had a really tight suspention. As of now i have a stage 2 wrx which seemed much faster then the stock SS. Well my questions is have any of you raced a stock wrx from a roll, because power wise you should be able to beat them, just curious. Also is anyone seeing any problems with parts on the car breaking or thing of that nature. Again im just curious about all of this because i try to be very informed when im buying a car. Thanks to anyone who helps me out

welcome to the Forum, I've had my car since May, nothing falling off, nothing rattling.
only thing that might scare you is the Mysterious knocking from the ghost in the back lol ( trunk latch mechanism resetting itself), after market is starting to pick up pace know, which is great new, as are the GM Stage kits. so you'll see some very fast Cobalt SS/SC pretty soon, and you won't even know it.
other good news is that people are seeing an average of about 10-15 HP gain on virtually any mod that you do, I/H/E.
I've already but 30000km (18600miles) and my baby is going strong as ever, most people noticed that the car got more responsive after it was fully broken in.

but you have already done the best thing and went and test drove one for your self.
so what do you thing going from AWD to FF, your definitely not going to hock like you did before

welcome aboard! this car is good. A Stock WRX against a stock SS the SS will win power wise every time, although we don't shoot out of the hole as fast as a WRX we catch up with them and end up passing very quickly. From a roll we definitly beat a WRX (Non-STi of course) but from a dig it's a drivers race up until the middle of 3rd unless one of the drivers happens to screw up. I've personally raced a Cobb Stage 2 WRX with exhaust and intake and I only have exhaust and intake and it's like dead even from a roll until 4th then I lose.. (at least the one I raced) but a launch I get slaughtered... no joke with the slight advantage to the WRX. But I love the WRX, great car for the buck and it's all season.. we however are not.. your accustom to the fact that you launch very easily but from a roll look out...

Hey thanks for the nice welcome guys. Yea originally i was just test driving the cobalt for the fun of it but after driving it i want one. And the stage kits from the factory is sweet. Hopefully if i can get some good money for my car i can get it soon. Do you think it would be smarter to sell it with or without the mods. I mean i got it dyno tuned and its running 235 whp which is as much as the stock sti's were putting down at the place i got it tuned. I guess its just what the person buying wants, but what do you guys think i will get the most money out of.

sell it with the mods privately or if you turn it in return it to stock because dealerships hate aftermarket parts on the car and will actually give you less for it if it does have stuff on the car as stupid as it sounds.

Yea if you can sell it privately (cars.com/newspaper/etc) sell it with mods. Take it to your dealer and see what they will give you for it. Actually take it to a few.

I had a Nissan 2004 Sentra SE-R that was modded (intake and exaust). I took it to one dealership and without even looking at it where only going to give me 8500. I was like WTF. I owed 9300 on it.

So I took it to another dealership and they ended up giving me 11500 with mods installed. I jumped all over that. So that was 2 g's down from my car, and another 5 g's out of pocket and now I drive an SS/SC with all options but onstar for 320 a month for 60 months. Also got a GM employee discount or what they call (friends and family discount) was like an extra 1500 off.

Welcome to the site STIwannabe! Did you test drive the SS or SS/SC?

I'm really enjoying mine. My 98 Z28 died on me. Had the Cobalt SS s/c since Thursday. While not as fast as the Z, the acceleration is really good!

Still in "break in" miles, but I couldn't resist. Some late 90's (I think) VW Jetta was messin' with me. We were at a roll, and both took off. I totally left him. Boost kicked in, and man...the pull was great. I have a k&n drop in on the way (dont want the cel), and will be getting the touring catback soon. Should give me a little boost. Fun car...and it looks great.

Going AWD to FWD was a suprise at the least. I read up a lot on the cobalt before i test drove it so i kinda knew what it was capable of. Then when i was driving it i kinda got on it in first and the wheels started spinning pretty good. The dealer noticed how suprised i was and started laughing at me. I gotta say it would be kinda fun spinning the tires whenever i wanted to. But yea it would take some time to learn the finese of launching an SS.
