Pondering value of used SS

Me and a few friends of mine were talking and we were wondering if the new plan GM signed to cut out performance vehicles will hurt or help the value of the SS. I have an 08 SS/TC and there's a possibility I might be getting rid of it to buy a used truck cash. I want to get rid of my payments and having a truck is very helpful where I live. Not to mention being able to afford insurance on top of everything else in life.

Maybe this subject has been covered already, but I couldn't find any threads containing it possibly due to the fact that I don't spend a lot of time on the forum. I just want to know how this new plan is going to effect the value of my car.

I don't know about the whole limited/ending production aspect, but I always hoped the SS/TC would hold it's value at least as well as the SRT-4 Neon, which is damn good considering it's a Neon :P

I doubt you'll see much difference in book value. Whether they became more popular with some of the performance enthusiast or not is yet to be seen.

If the remainder of the Cobalt line is any indication (SS/SCs included), the value of our SS/TCs in third party sales will be garbage.

The 08 TC's on KBB and NADA are already worth about 7k less than the sticker was.

it will not help the value. honestly if you're looking to get rid of it, do it soon. cobalts hold their value pretty poorly.

Agreed. Our cars value will fall to **** for 3 primary reasons...

1. Look at the SS/SC's as an indicator...The cars hold no long term value.

2. Why would anybody invest in a newer GM product with the current state of their company. There is a risk that the warranty could become useless.

3. The current economic disaster we are in does not inspire ANYBODY to pay high dollar for something like a FWD Turbo car. It's a buyers market and those looking to shell out what you would want for your SS/TC are suddenly in the range of buying some far more impressive vehicles. Things like used Corvettes and Cobras are suddenly within reach for those looking to buy a sporty car....or they could go for a Cobalt SS.....Which do you think they are going to go for?

So our cars will dramatically drop in value. This doesnt matter for those who love their car and are happy with there choice, but to those who are looking to move on are going to be taking a serious hit if you want to sell.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get rid of my balt sometime this week or next week. Gotta go to the DMV to get some stuff settled, then I'm afraid to say I'll no longer be a balt owner, but I have bigger concerns in life lol.

SS/SC = An even bigger pile of **** . I wouldn't compare it to a SC as it wasn't spoken of highly buy any major media ... ( Motor trend etc.)

The TC has smoked the competiton as far as circuits go and I doubt you will see much of a resale value but I expect it to be a little higher then the SC's where due to the fact it is almost an entirely different car ( 7 speaker Blutooth Stereo Turbo Brembos 2 tone seatsbetter suspension Sedan added to the mix)

AS soon as new GTI and Ford Focus RS arrives in the states I would gues the resale of the TC would be good because it will be the only one of its kind for used cars

I've been offered 15,500 by three dealerships on a trade.

That being said, if anyone wants a Cobalt SS/TC for $17k this week, let me know. =P

I'm with you man .... it's not an entirely diff. car !!!! same friggin body and interior minus the seats .... Yippee they placed a turbo in the engine bay instead of a blower !!! Go back to 2005 when the SS/SC came out .... the car was talked about very well by motor trend and such. The SS/TC is a nice car too, but it isn't such an improvement to be such a nut swinger or to talk down on the SS/SC ....

Did you lose your job and you need to do a short sale?

6502 miles as of tonight, and it's pretty much in new condition.

I've just decided the car isn't right for me, and I'm getting into a G8 GT. Just a completely different car. I miss having a V8.
