Safe Boost Pressure

Hi, I'm new to this site and i just got my cobalt last week, its a 06 LSJ. But anyways I was wondering I was looking at ZZP and there stage 3 kit comes with like a 2.9 pulley and the OTT stage 1 kit has a i think 2.8-7 I can't remember off the top of my head, but I was wondering Its still completely stock yet but I wanna buy a kit which one would you guys think would be better. Thanks for the help. Matt

OTTPerformance Stage 1 kit FTW....But remember, you will need supporting mods to run any stake kit. i.e. Exhaust/cooling mods as a bare minimum. Definitely go with the OTTPerformance Stage 1 kit. 2.8 pulley, 60's, shortened belt, tune, plugs and probably more all for only $500...Can't get that anywhere else.

BTW, the LSJ can hold Boost Pressures well into the 20's...But boost doesn't mean power. It's just the measure of a restricted airflow.

Yea I am going to get Exhaust but I don't know anything about the cooling, what if I just put a lower thermostate in would that work, because I did the same thing in my GTP I use to have and also what kind of intake would you prefer. I use to have a ZZP intake box for my GTP. So i'm not sure which one to get because I have read alot about diff. kinds on here and they all say there good. And when you run a CAI aren't you worried about rain gettin to it?

a colder thermostat will do nothing except make your car not get to operating temperature. Unlike the gtp's we have a factory heat exchanger so thats where we do the bulk of our cooling modification. we usually add a 2nd front mount h/e, dual pass, extra fluid resivoir, etc. or you can just get meth injection and save yourself the hassle

2.7" needs w/m injection. 2.8 is the smallest pulley Eaton recommends without it. Even with a 2.8" you will need to upgrade your heat exchanger.

2.8" = 17-18 psi
2.7" = 18-19 psi
IMO if you are a n00b to cobalts, just get the OTT stage 1 and their heat exchanger kit. safest, cheapest, easiest way to add power. If you HAVE to keep your warranty, gm stage 2 is the only way, but it doesnt produce nearly as much power as the other kits.

i believe stock lsj can withstand 7-10psi before messing stuff up. get forged pistons and bump it up to about 15-17psi

get meth injection if your going to put a turbo in her

my .02

stock lsj's have 12.5psi, gm stage 2 puts it at 15psi.

besides, boost is not an indicator of horsepower. boost is a measure of restriction in the manifold.

OTTP IS BEAUTIFUL, HOWEVER they are on backorder with the PCM's so it might take longer than expected. but for reassurance... there just straight up awesome... take the wait and use it for suspense. than mess with your friends and when you receive it and know the day your putting it in. just tell them DAMNIT i have to wait longer WTF... and come out and suprise em all... its what i did. and it felt good. make sure you get the 1st gear 50% boost reduction. works perfect
