whine from turbo

i have a whine from the turbo when it hits about 15 psi. i not sure what it is but it started to happen after i replaced a stock intake pipe that was cracked. mods in sig. i can hear it spool up then the whine. the whine sounds like a little supercharger.

Intake noise maybe. Did you replace you stocker with an afftermarket one that would explain it.

it sounds more like a boost leak.... they can create some crazy noises whines, hisses, whistling....

and seems how you were just working on the charge piping...

Check for a leak then. Maybe your turbo inlet where the intake clamps up is leaking.

i checked that about 3 times now. i have jacked up the car and was under it with my dad reving it and putting it in gear and cant feel any leaks. i know if there is a leak in the piping it throws a code.

Yes, if the leak is bad enough it will will trigger a CEL. Maybe an issue with the turbo bearings but I doubt it. Make sure you check your breather hose that connects to your intake the plastic end can break too like the intake nipple did.

Man, that is two already I know which intercooler I definately will not be buying.

Back on topic: No not the check valve I dont think that is the problem. I wish I could hear it in person. Does it sound like a vac leak to you or a squealing or grinding noise?

I would not worry unless it gets worse. It sounds like you have checked for leaks pretty thoroughly. If you are still boosting 22 pounds or whatever you are set for it is not a leak, not one big enough to be able to hear anyway.

That's a possibility, or maybe your wastegate spring is too weak and isn't holding closed during high boost?

I don't think it would whine, but it would cause noise if it was recirculating boost. Other than that, do you have a bunch of oil in your charge piping or anything that would indicate a blown seal or anything?

my turbo also makes the whine... i'm tuned on ab 22psi... at WOT it does it... same sounds as mentioned, kinda like a mini s/c, high pitched

i figured it was the bearing in the turbo

The LNF engine itself tends to make a whiny noise when it gets up their in RPM's. Maybe its just your engine and not turbo related
