View Full Version : how to install OTTP H/E
bernandovelasquez 03-21-2009, 01:23 PM ok just to clear up a few things, hopefully lsjwannab can give us an idea...
do the H/E bolt up to the crash bar? if so holes have to be drilled right?
and which nipple is in and which is out?
I know the inlet and outlet is supposed to be on the right and the drain should be on the bottom left, so looking at it from this angle is the top nipple the inlet and the bottom the outlet?
also would it be better to remove the stock H/E and just have the ottp h/e or is it better to combine the old one with the new one ? I saw two diff diagrams, one with both the h/e working together and one with just the ottp H/E... what is the best way to to use?
Also what are the four smaller brackets on the H/E is for? because my H/E only came with two bolts and those bolts look like they are for the larger brackets welded to the top of the H/E.
EXsoccer1921 03-21-2009, 01:27 PM yes, crash bar.
yes, two bolts for the larger welded on brackets.
yes, you have it oriented correctly
yes, top is inlet
yes, bottom is outlet

I would suggest removing the stock unit personally.
The 4 tabs come on the core unit so don't worry about those.
bernandovelasquez 03-21-2009, 01:34 PM so we have to drill holes on the crash bar... are those two brackets enough support to hold that thing at high speeds and possibly hitting pot holes and what not?
EXsoccer1921 03-21-2009, 01:38 PM i'm going to keep the stock unit on. but i'll have the coolant run through it first

Rydis 04-30-2009, 11:37 PM how did you guys bleed the system after installing this? I purchased one and plan to run it in line with the stock, but ive never done anything like this before.
SS/SCking 05-01-2009, 12:10 AM Could i use the drain as a air bleeder if it was on the top???
bernandovelasquez 05-01-2009, 01:25 AM I think it would bleed it self out eventually I had to add more coolant after my first drive with it installed.. that was after I bled it during installation.
Rydis 05-05-2009, 12:56 PM I think it would bleed it self out eventually I had to add more coolant after my first drive with it installed.. that was after I bled it during installation.
Guess my question is...is it safe to just install it and hook it in with the stock H/E and be good?
GreyDog72 05-05-2009, 01:00 PM thats how i did mine. Although i had to drill holes in my bumper. It had 2 holes already but they where 2 far apart so i had 2 drill some 2 match it up. i shoulda took some install pics. i did it last week. Next week ill be installing the stage 3 duel pass endplate when it comes in. Ill take some install pics with that.
Rydis 05-05-2009, 02:07 PM yeah, going through the crash bar wsan't a concern to me..just hooking up the hoses heh. if yours turned out ok then...

baltimorebalt 05-25-2009, 11:10 PM Did any of you guys run opt b with the ott unit? If so where the hell does the .040 orifice with the brass fitting go? I bought the opt b kit from crate engine and its purge line do i rly have to drill through the ott h/e?
baltimorebalt 05-26-2009, 08:59 AM ^^^^anyone know?
Rydis 06-06-2009, 08:37 PM make sure you install this as far forward as you can. My OTTP H/E just rubbed a hole in my AC condenser.
