OK i have 17 inch dark bronze Kazera rims and i am kind of tired of them i was think about painting them black because everything else on my car is black...taillights, headlights tint etc...i was wondering the best way to paint them black and if anyone on here has done it themselves and would like A. to post some pics or B. let me know how they turned out, I good with paint but i was also wondering if i just took the rim paint from autozone and took my time would it be worth it? i just love that all black look

Not really performance related, but it's cool.

Most people get their rims powder coated. Paint will scuff right off most of the time.

 

i say keep em that color and stay different.

 

yea i like the color but i got that stupid fever of doin some more stuff, i know everyone knows what this is haha, i kinda figured since i just take my time with them i can do them right , all i want is that flat black look thanks

 

i'm gonna be doing mine soon with the spray gun. i painted the stockers and they didn't come out to bad considering it was the spray can ****.

me? no.....sold these long time ago i got some new 15" wheels on the car that are silver painted with the polished lip. i'm gonna give em some hands on loving then i'll be painting em all black.


the posted pick is to show that the paint just doesn't fall off. i rode a winter on those 16"s with no problems at all.

p.s. it's all in how well you sand/prep the surface.

i used duplicolor flat black no clear coat. if you want it to pop i'd clear coat it. i didn't use primer that time but i will on these wheels.

 

I have painted many sets of rims with rattle can spray paint from bleave it or not Walmart! Any paint will come out good its all in the preping of the wheel and making shure the paint and wheel stay 70 deg or warmer, and take your time. It usally takes me all day to paint a set of wheels so dont rush. start out by sanding down the wheels with 320 grit sand paper then wash and completly dry them, next primer the wheels. Once that is dry take 1500 grit paper and do a light wet sanding the smother the surface the depper the paint will look. I doesnt really matter what kind of pain you use just take your time put on two to three coates of black paint wet sanding inbetween each coat. Now you are ready for the clear coat I usally do two coats of this with a wet sanding in between, then for a really deep look and shine wet sand the clear and use some rubbing compound or a high gread polish and buff them out. be prepaired the paint might look better on the wheels than the paint on the car lol good luck just remember solw is key
