After the wonderful news today about GM. What do you think the chances of our cars being built are?

I think they will keep building them until the parts run out, like we've discussed before.

I hope so...I'm getting a bad vibe from the guys I work with. The good news is if GM goes down, President Obama will honor our warranties!

My salesperson just told me they moved the scheduled production date up a week. Based on earlier SSnet comments about their orders being scheduled for April 6, it seems GM is indeed consolidating the SS orders together.

The governement is putting through a supplier assistance program as well to make sure that the tier one and two suppliers of the domestic companies don't go under.

What are the cahnces of your car getting built, 100%

People who are saying GM is going down etc etc. are idiots. The WORST possible scenario, GM enters a government controlled prepackaged bankrupcy. That will basically entail all of GM's current debt holders being told to screw off, firing all top end staff and building new again, day to day operations will not be interupted.

There is nothing to worry about from a consumer perspective, if you directly work for them in any capacity, then you have reason to be scared for your job but thats about it.

What about potential mandates for hybrids or fuel-efficient cars? Personally, I think the Cobalt SS/TC is one heck of a fuel-sipper. If they make more fuel-sippers like the SS/TC, I'm going to like the idea of fuel-efficient cars. Somehow I think of cars like the Aveo whenever I conjure up thoughts of a government mandated fuel-economy program.

So the government is basically changing the cars people have available to buy...
Over 2 milion fullsize trucks a year, god knows how many sport utes, and then various sedans. The government and press screams people want hybrids! It to Toyota 11 years to sell 1 million Priuses. Good thing the big three never built the vehicles people wanted!

Thats the fundamental problem of the environmental lobby and the fingersnap solutions they think exist.

Hybrid cars are not profitable and meeting the regulations coming from CAFE and california will be prohibitevly expensive if any company wants to still be able to supply vehicles people want to buy.
