buy 2.4 or 2.0

I'm debating on either purchasing the 2.4 ss or the 2.0 ss. The reason I want to purchase the 2.4 because I love white and the 2.0 doesnt ofer this option. I'm starting to actually like the looks over the 2.4 over the 2.0. Give me some input. Thanks

Buy the 2.4 and throw a SC on it.

there are sooo many kits out it would be too hard to decide which one to put on ...not

if you can afford the 2.0 get it .... there are allot of other upgraded items other than just the S/C and if its just paint that is swinging your decision I'm sure you can find another colour that makes you almost as happy

if you think the 2.0 will be a stretch financially or dont care about the extra speed ...go for the 2.4 and enjoy white

Hope I didn't over simplify that...

Go with the 2.4 and save up for a supercharger when they come out. I love my 2.4, it is quick and I am sure when the sc is out for them they will fly!

if its power you want right out of the box...spend the extra few grand for the 2.0...its WELL worth it for what you get...plus...look at the aftermarket the 2.0 has...the hossier twin charge kit has been created, we have stage kits, intakes, exhausts, mounts, tensioners, strut bars.....
plus the 18'' rims are perfect for the car, you get stock leather, its not just an option, inserts, embriodered seats, performance suspension, more stylish lip kit....
i could go on forever

however if u want white....i duno what to say... get it painted
or fall in love with another color

Everyone is talking about turboing/supercharging the 2.4 and it will be 260hp etc. But the internals in the 2.4 ARE NOT built for boost. Therefore they will need to be replaced/upgraded. All depends are you looking to dump ALOT into your car? or just some?

depends on how much boost. If a F/I kit does come, its likely to take this into account and be a bit conservative.

If you MUST have white then you have to get the 2.4L SS. If you can live with another colour and price is not a barrier (plus fuel, insurance)--get the S/C

It will still degrade the life or your engine. Regardless of how conservative it is... much quicker than a modded SS/SC. But i thinkits preference, i personally like the wheels/g85 package, goodluck getting an aftermarket LSD. And the seats are nice

I am sayin... Buy the SS/SC, get all of the good performance stuff, get it painted (Any GM body shop could do it) and have the first white SS/SC!

That would be bad ass!

Look at twistedtravz car in the past car of the months. His white 2.4 is sick looking. It looks so nice lowered with tints. One thing i'm not really feeling about the 2.0 is the spoiler.

Doesn't the 2.4 come with forged internals? I have seen numerous posts that say our engine is capable of handling 300 hp before parts failure. Is this not correct?

I'll answer your question with another question:

"Should I buy a V6 mustang, or a Mustang Cobra?"

Well do you wanna be #1 or #2. It's that simple, either you buy the best or you don't. Color is important but I'm sure you'll be happy with another color. Go 2.0 or go home.

You could wait until next years model info is released! Maybe they will do a white SS/SC? It is possible, but unlikely I guess.

Otherwise, they are both great cars. The SS/SC is a little harder to live with as a daily driver. It rides pretty rough, but corners like a go-kart. The 2.4L SS is a nice compromise between all out performance and a comfortable ride.

As far as power, the SS/SC is definately quicker, but not by a whole lot. The 2.4L is a damb quick car in its own right. Plus, you don't get the wing for 16 year olds if that is not your thing. The polished aluminum wheels look great, and wont chip or flake as much as the gunmetal rims on the SS/SC.

I think you need to consider first whether or not you have to have a white car, and second what are you looking for in the car. Do you wan't uncompromised performance, or a good all-round fun to drive car that is easy to live with?

That was kinda my thinking too. I had been saving money for a while, so I could just afford the SS/SC with my options. Now obviously, many people may not be able to afford insurance, or the increased cost of the car.

In hindsight, while I do love my SS/SC it is not for everyone. It rides rough (at least on Alberta roads), I am not a fan of the spoiler, and had to spend extra money on winter wheels and tires. The 2.4L SS would have been way cheaper, had heated seats, and all season tires. Thankfully, the Recaro seats never felt cold due to the fabric inserts, and the winter rims keep my summer wheels in great shape. No salt to eat their finish away! I also could have got silver or Granite Blue, my favorite colors on the car. Instead, I got a black car, which looks sweet, but has never been clean for more than 12 hours! If I had a 2.4L SS there also wouldn't be those dambed staged kits out! I wouldn't be tempted to buy them!

Also, it is important to note that the 2.4LSS and SS/SC share almost everything in common. The SS/SC has the 18" painted aluminum wheels, W-rated high performance Pirelli tires, supercharger, intercooler, big wing, saab transmision, FE5 suspension tuning, and the available LSD and Recaro seats (with the G85 performance package). Both cars have engines featuring forged steel connecting rods, crankshaft, and oil piston cooling jets. Both cars also have the same brakes and aluminum front arms if I am not mistaken. Otherwise, the 2.4LSS has VVT, 17" polished wheels on all-season performance Pirellis, available heated seats, and of course, your choice of color. All things that the SS/SC does not have!

Don't get me wrong, I love the SS/SC, but it is not for everyone!

I am second best. I am the least modded SS/SC on ths site. I figure that while everyone else mods the s%*t out of their cars, I'll just leave mine stock. By the time they are all done, their cars will be so far removed from stock, that mine will be totally unique.

Mods to date: 2.4L SS lower grill, block heater

Hey, don't go a'knockin. At least the bloc heater is kinda original!
