Unhappy A/C compressor not working??

So it doesnt seem like my air conditioner compressor is kicking on. When I turn my cars A/C on and turn it on high it's just blowing outside air. I tried adding a little freon (until it said full) but it still feels hot. Last summer when I would turn my A/C on it would make my car act idle down a little then cold air would start coming out. Now, when I push the A/C button, nothing happens... How would I tell if my compressor is bad??

You can hear the compressor "click" on and as you said the idle might change.

Could be a pressure sensor, the compressor clutch connector not plugged in, low in charge (leak present), the control circuit for the compressor clutch (including the relay)

Is your indicator light lit?

Anyways, if so, you will need to check to see if the clutch is actually enaging for the compressor... you will need to have someone toggle the A/C while you stand and watch the A/C compressor pulley to see if the clutch is engaging.

if you overcharged it and leave the AC on it will never doing anything. The AC clutch won't engage. If it was me I would be emptying the AC and start by putting in one can of freon and one can of oil. If you don't feel comfortable or your a tree huger and wan it done correctly I'd be taking it somewhere for them to service it. (check everything over). My AC never blew cold air even when new on my SS. Took forever for the cabin to cool off. My little 4 door sedan Cobalt that thing was crazy.

If the compressor was really the issue then I feel for ya son, I got 99 problems and an A/C compressor ain't one.
