No freon causes the AC clutch not to work?

I took my car by the dealership and had a tech look at it. Since I am out of warranty I just asked him what he thought may be wrong. He looked at it and confirmed the AC clutch wasn't turning on when the AC button was pressed. He told me it could be because the AC system needs to be recharged.. Does this sound logical?

Yes. It has a presure switch that shuts it off its too low. Then again the switch could also be bad.

Haha will do jack.

Now that I think about it, last night I *attempted* to add freon to the system. Seemed like it took it like its supposed to. The gauge read full and everything. When I disconnected it and turned my car off I could hear a faint hissing noise. Almost like a leak of some kind. Its starting to make since now. Hopefully its just a leak and not a bad compressor!
