*zip-tie Mod Warning*

hey guys as you know i was goin to go to the dealer for the code p0091. i got my buddys waitin to go back to stock and looked in my engine before i did anything. found out that the zip tie pulled 2 wires that seperate from the cluster underneath was pinched on the metal frame and the copper was exposed and i believe getting grounded.... solution= temp. wrapped electrical tape around it. tom im getting some kind of foam peice so theres no pressure on the wires. pics will be uploaded in just a sec

At least you found the problem Jon. I still have to bring mine back to the dealer to fix the wire again and now I noticed the bottom of the charge pipe is cracked.

I had to use zip ties to secure some vacuum hoses on the intake manifold and the big air hose that sits on the engine oil cooler. I have not seen so many vacuum hoses since my 81 T-bird.

That's why I zip tied my hot side pipe to the black metal bracket and not the wiring connector.

i invented this "mod" and its not so much a mod as it is a bandaid Only real fix is to get aftermarket piping...

But as stated before, you ziptie it to the the bracket and not the wiring lol... and be sure to use two zipties not just one

There was a post a like a month ago that somebody did an actual mod that did the same thing, but was more substantial than the zip-tie mod...

I can't remember when it was exactly or the title of it though.

I do not have any zip ties on my 2009 SS, but this morning I went into limp mode (eng pwr reduced message). I pulled the code and it was P0091 (fuel pressure circuit low). Was about ready to take it in for a new fuel pump when I saw this thread. I checked the wiring harness in the photo and sure enough, it had rubbed through. A little electrical tape and I'm back in business. I'll figure out a more permanent fix this weekend. Need to to add more padding at that rub point or something.

There was a TSB on that. I just got a new clip that fastens it down good. Go to the dealer. They should run a VIN check and the TSB will pop up for your car...no charge takes a couple min. They should have em in stock.

When he made that post over a year ago, the TSB didn't exist yet. Good lookin' out though!

Just take a look. Should have a metal clip over the screw.

Look at the front driver side of the engine just immediately to the left of the boost tube. The first pic shows right where to look. Mine rubbed where the smaller conduit comes out of the larger conduit. You might have to gently pull the harness back to see.

Underneath the long black plastic tube on top of the engine (Charge pipe from turbo), there's a a fastener that holds it to the top of the engine. See where the tie wrap (on the LEFT in this pick) goes through the bracket? There's a screw through the center of that bracket. There should be a METAL TAB that goes over the TOP part of the screw.
