Tuning by AMS - Chicago

Has anyone had their car tuned by AMS in West Chicago? I'm looking for anyone that's had Chris Black at AMS tune their vehicle with HPT. Please let me know how things went and if you're satisfied with the service.

Thanks - Paul

I don't believe they tune with HPtuners. I contacted them when i had my Z about having them do some work to it, and they basically said if its not listed on their site, they won't work on it. Plus, AMS is sort of overrated.

I'll PM you some info about a shop in plainfield that I will be doing some work with.

got a buddy i call Englishman and he had his evo X mr tuned by ams. to be honset i'm not sure exactly who tuned it but i do know within 5 months his tranny failed and he had bad boost spikes the whole time. so they returned it to stock and a section of his intake piping fell off on the e-way on the way home from the shop. good or bad i'd personally spend my money elsewere, although i will state it was quick when it was running right.

To be really honest, I think AMS's work is top notch. A guy around town has an AMS built 240SX, and its a beast (if he would ever drive it to its potential), and the quality of the build is quite honestly amazing.

I have heard a few bad things about Evo's in general, and, for the price, I would find some other shop with a reputation, and pay less than the AMS name lends.

So... you're blaming a tuning shop because your friend's transmission failed? >_>

yes due to the fact the shift parameters where not changed because the tuner tuned the car like a gsr not a tc-sst.

mr is an auto like it or not and they didn't account for that.

They do SRT4's, but nothing insane like their Evos.

If you need a tune op let me know, I drive all over and tune people. In the last couple days I tuned 2 turbo balts and an ss/sc. They were all very happy.

PS: BartSS - Your HHR is very clean man!
