Intake mod FTW
This thread has no other purpose than to say to those that have stock intakes WTF are you waiting for?!
Used to have a 1991 Ford thunderbird SC, no mods whatsoever... the SC was loud as hell all the time, twas great. The 'Balts lack of a similar whine was dissapointing, until today.
If ya have a stock intake, for god's sake get a K&N E-1009, slice up your stock air box and adapt that sucker. Sounds beautiful, only costs $50, takes maybe 2 hours tops (battery died & wont take charge for the saws all, had to use a hacksaw
)
I'm just very happy, the SC can be heard now without straining your ears, and sure ya might pick up a few HP while you're at it. Hurray!
::end of unneccesary, overjoyed banter::

you could have saved that $50 and took maybe another month to have enough cash to just buy a really full intake that actually gains and sounds awesome.
different strokes for different folks

K&N Typhoon here.
Full Intake > Airbox mod.
You must do more than just an Intake. I started off with just an Intake because I thought my car was plenty fast. Now I'm going up to a TVS. Waiting on the rest of my supporting mods to show up....It's like crack. Once you take that first hit, you can't stop. You need more and more to satisfy your needs. haha

The Cobalt is my daily driver. I'm putting most of my time/money into the '92 Z28 & our S10 now.

RAWs intake is what $300? I have it on my car 'cause I scored it used for cheap and it doesnt do eff all went from airbox mod to RAW intake no difference maybe a slightly louder SC I guess you dont really notice the gains of an intake unless you have a tvs?
