Upgraded Oil Pan

Does anyone make one for road racing?

I am adding slicks to the car, and I am a little nervous about doing this without upgrading the oil pain to something with baffles in it as I have heard it is necessary.

Thanks,

what kind of car? l61? lap? le5? lsj? lnf?

either way, i doubt the oil pan is something you need to worry about unless you're running big hp

Since he posted it in the LNF section, he probably means that motor. As far as the dangers of the stock oil pan, I haven't read too much on it. I know that sloshing oil can be a dangerous thing in high horsepower engines on fast paced courses but I don't know enough about the LNF to know the answer. Someone on here probably will though...

LNF correct, hence the LNF section haha.

High horspower really has nothing to do with it, G forces do.

I know on my Cobra, and many other cars, if you are going to be running slicks on a road course you should look into an upgraded oil pan that reduces the sloshing that happens with high g forces in corners and can save your motor from starvation and boom boom time.

I hope someone on here has some kind of answer.

If gm ran the cobalt ss at the nurburgring with the stock oil pan, i doubt you'll need something better. Also the lnf in a solstice won a couple scca championships with the stock pan, again nothing happened.

Incorrect,

I have asked one of the guys in the Koni series.

They said there's was a one off though.

I don't think the oil pan would be a huge issue. I know in v8's we use windage trays so the oil doesnt get airated. I had issues with my c-10 after doing doughnuts the oil psi would so crazy and a tray made it alot better, plus you actually gain a few hp. not sure if their is one for these cars

I dont know what guy you asked but I can assure you that the reigning Koni Challenge Champion Cobalt that i worked on does in fact run a factory oil pan.

I worked mostly on the 00 at NJMP in May, I was scheduled to work at Limerock but had conflicts which prevented me from going, Ill probably be at the race this Saturday just to cheer since my wife is away on business and hot pit isnt an ideal place for 3yr olds.(regardless of how bad they want to be there) I am trying to make it to GP3R, and something will have to be on fire to keep my from going to VIR.

You didn't find any oil starvation issues with high cornering G's?

Seems like a waste of time and money.
