I'd probably trust a mechanic who works on the car before anyone else. At least about what's what on the car....

The guy who the info originally came from is also on that race team, so someone is confused, I just want to know who.

Ill see if I took any pics of the pan......

Qwikredline may also chime in, as his shop built the Time Attack car and the first batch of Koni Cars.

Nah, only pic I have is of the wheelwell area, show the knuckle/brake/front trans mount, oilpan isnt visible. Its obvioulsy possible that one of us is mistaken, or that there is more than one build out (I know for a fact there is) and this could affect the oil pan. Tom from California Cobalts is also a member here, perhaps he could share what his team runs....

I'd paypal you a dollar if I end up being wrong and the Koni cars are running custom built oilpans.

Either Stefs or Bates probably has pans/rails available and would be happy to fab you up a pan.

Also, in the LNF is the pan smaller compared to the LSJ. I thought I remember hearing that.

Honestly man, I would just stick with the stock oil pan. Spend your money on something else.

Well I would imagine that the exterior of the pan might look identical and that there might be some baffles welded on the inside or something like that.

I just think it is important we get the correct info out there for those of us that do plan on getting these cars out for some serious road course duty.

I think its a good discussion

Baffles inside? Sure thats possible, I didnt have to tear one down or anything, but I am fairly confident that the entire engine is essentially stock(lower boost, oil catch, air restrictor, etc....but no serious mods)

Hey Maven we missed you at Lime Rock!

Our Koni Coblats do in fact run a stock pan that has been modified.

To my knowledge no one sells an off the shelf unit.

Do I get a dollar too??

I missed being there. You guys did good! Congrats on 3rd, looks like Lime Rock suited the Balts just fine, you were running fast, fastest lap of the race!!!! Well, besides that ringer german kid from the Rolex series

I hope to be able to come up Saturday and hang out, I'll have my little guy all by myself but gonna try.

You can have a $1, take it out of my next paycheck

Mosport isn't too far away from Toronto, plus there is Dunnville (smaller track though). I guess the Glen would be the next closest track than Mosport unless I am thinking wrong here.

Going down to watch the Grand Am race, not actually race the car haha.

There are plenty of closer tracks to drive on.

trying to bump this thread just getting into road racing, and someone i knew with a balt had an issue and ended up blowing his motor due to oil starvation in the turns. Any input on the baffles or is an aftermarket one available?

the roadracing lsj cars use the le5 pans. the time attack car ran an A.R.E dry sump pan.

thanks man so its a bad idea running the stock lsj oil pan? i find it hard that having seven quarts of oil the motor would starve. And the track i run at is really like a small nascar oval track

aeration of the oil in higher hp levels and g force levels. 5w30 is your friend. sustained high rpms are not.

yea im pretty fast at the track and have a decent horsepower level but i cant use my second gear i stay in third so the rpms dont get too high thanks for the info. I usually drag but there is more skill involved in this. So how about the 1in ottp rear sway bar work good? my car tends to push some any input?
